Can not login into windows without internet.

#1 This PC has no internet. I can not hook it to the internet. Please don't waste my time and yours by suggesting anything that requires an internet connection.

#2 It did have internet at one point and I want to logon to it with a user account that is a M.$ account.

#3 It does have another account with admin rights that is a local account.

Is there a way to convert a user account I am not currently logged onto from a M.$ account to a local account?

Note: This is one of my old win 10 pc's. I kept it together so I could grab files I may have missed like save games and/or documents/pictures and transfer them via usb flash drive to my new win 11 pc that I transferred the digital license to.

Which is why I cannot hook it to the internet, it no longer has a valid product key.

When I'm sure I have everything off it I might ever need, I'm going to wipe it and run Linux on it but for now, I would like to logon to it with that specific user account.

That there is #1 Waste of my time and yours.

I don't mean to be rude, just honest.

There's tons of idiots posting on the microsoft forums saying to go into your account settings and change it to local when you can not even log in to your account.

Clearly you should be able to log in to your MS account with no internet connection...

You say this is an old PC.

I found one thread with the same issue, and they solved it- but it seemed to require an internet connection - even briefly. The user who resolved it commented
However... while tinkering, I clicked on the "internet" icon on the sign-in screen and re-entered my wifi password, and was able to log in. I don't know how that got corrupted.
I know you say you can't/won't connect it to the internet, so clearly that's not going to help you.

    Nor is:
Switch to Local Account in Windows 10

So at this point I've no idea what you can do.

If you only needed files from that account- that would be easy. Do you need more?

Otherewise, will be interesting to see if anyone has ideas.

You said the other account is a local account and has Admin rights. Log into the other local account. Once you do that you can change the M$ account to a local one.

How would you go about that? I have tried and failed to find any way to turn an MS account into a local account, even when signed in as Administrator.

-- just to clarify- do you mean without internet access? or just that it's not possible by that means?

@Sqrly- what happens if you try to access your MS account from Safe Mode?

What exactly are you afraid of?

For recovering data I have used 2 methods. One is to pull the drive out and put it into a Drive Dock connected to a different computer and copy user data. The other is to boot to a Linux Mint LiveUSB thumb drive and copy the data to a USB thumb drive or External HDD to copy over the data.

Forgot to mention, I am able to log into this Notebook I'm on now at home with only a Microsoft Account and no Internet connection. I was able to log onto it yesterday at the hospital 40 miles away before getting the login information. When thinking about it how can a computer be connected to the Internet service if the computer hasn't been logged into first?
