Can't Find or Reset Microsoft Account Password (Win10 22H2)

Being unable to log in to my Microsoft account or Outlook email, I tried to reset my password. One way to do this is to go to Reset your password. At the point where I must enter the new password in two places, I do it, but I then get this error message on screen, as though I left one field blank: "this information is required" "reenter password". Every time I enter the new password and select "continue", the error repeats.
    Background Info:
I installed Windows 10 on 2 PCs a long time ago. They continue to work fine, booting up everyday and logging me in to my Microsoft account on my PC, which is the same as my Outlook Email address. (Of course it doesn't let me see any part pf my Outlook/MSN/Microsoft Account password.) I rarely, if ever, go to that email address to actually look at my mail. For email I have a custom domain and use an IMAP service separate from Microsoft (Fastmail). Everyone contacts me using my Fastmail address, including Microsoft, since they have that as the contact email associated with my Microsoft Account. Occasionally, I have received a notice to reset my password, which I did a couple of times this year, making note of the new password, but I never used it to login to my Outlook email or my Microsoft account on the web, since I don't need to use them, and my computer continues to boot into Windows 10 (22H2), without asking me for a password. The Windows Update App also works, as usual.

Either you configured it to do so (tutorial available), or it's possible to install Windows on a passwordless basis.
Do you happen to know which?
Note: even if you opt to have Windows automatically log in to an account, there are cases where you still need that password.

You should be able to check that you are indeed using a MS account:
How to Tell if Local Account or Microsoft Account in Windows 10

Try one or other of these to change your MS account password:
Options 7,8 from this tutorial from the searchable Tutorials section:

    Yes, I used settings>account to verify it's a MSA.

Try one or other of these to change your MS account password:

Change Account Password in Windows 10

When I chick on "change" I must fill in my password and click "sign in", which starts the whole scenario I originally described.

    that's unfamiliar to me...?
By the "Windows Update App" I mean: Settings>>Update and Security (Windows Update)

Thank you. It only seems you're trying one way.

There are two- as I indicated.

    More explicitly:
Option Seven: To Change Password of your Microsoft Account in Settings app
Option Eight: To Change Password of your Microsoft Account Online at Microsoft
Have you tried changing your MS password both online and on your PC?

Yes. I originally tried to do it online, although I forget which other links I used, besides the one I posted for changing the Outlook password. This time, when I used Option 8, as you suggested, I got "You've requested too many codes today. Please try again tomorrow." In California the day is only 3 hours old, so I'm not sure which time zone Microsoft is using. I may have to wait 24 hours before I can try it again.

    - - - Updated - - -

I was able to login to my outlook.com email using the option "other ways to sign in", one of which was GitHub. I remembered I had set up an account there, although I never used it. They sent a one time passcode to my fastmail email, after which, any time I choose the GitHub option to sign in to outlook.com, I'm immediately sent to my mail inbox, with no password or other security required, thanks to the "stay signed in" option.

That still didn't help me learn or reset my MSA password, so I decided to just log out of another PC, I sometimes use. When I did that it asked me to enter my password to log back in, which scared me at first. On that screen I saw other optons as well, one of which was to reset my password. Without opening any browser, the login screen simply said to enter the new password, which I did. After that, it asked me to enter my password to login, as usual on a new Windows install, or after logging out, so I entered the new password, which worked.

I never did figure out why, when I originally tried the reset on the web, it kept asking me to enter the new password twice, but responded as though I entered nothing, asking to repeat the entry over and over, with no error message.

Happy you found a way forward. Make sure you keep a safe record.

I wonder if it's something to do with having a PC logged in to the account whilst trying to make the change? (If that's what the situation was).

But I agree, it should not be the case there was neither an indication of error/failure nor confirmation.
