Attempted to bypass login screen, now have two accounts. Stuck.

I was trying to get Windows 10 to log in without requiring a PIN/Password, and now somehow it's booting to the login screen saying incorrect username or password. When I click OK I can enter in my password, however, but now on the bottom left there are two accounts. Both same name. One with icon, other without. It's attempting to log in using account without icon. There are no other accounts on this computer (fresh install a week ago), and I disabled the Guest account in Computer Management. Any ideas how to remove this duplicate sign on account attempt, and then bypass the log in screen altogether? Screenshots in comments.

Here is the screenshot from what happens when the computer first boots. When you hit OK, you will see two accounts on the bottom left with the same name, one with the account image, the other without. That screenshot is not uploading.

That's what happens if you accidentally record the wrong pasword when using NetPlWiz.

    To fix things
    - go back to NetPlWiz, undo it so you are forcing yourself to log in every time,
    - reboot
    - go back to NetPlWiz, set it up with the correct password.

    By the way:-
    - That Guest account should already have been disabled. Windows 10 does so by default.
    - It is always worth having fallbacks in case your Admin account ever suffers from user profile corruption - my ditty - Create two spare local, password-protected Admin accounts [post #2] in Windows 10, 11 - TenForums

    Welcome to TenForums.

It's really worth making time to browse through the Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every page.
    - At the foot of the Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
    - I download a new copy each month.
    - By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
    - Tutorials are also listed by category at Tutorials - there's also a shortcut to that at the top of every page.
    - Both tutorial lists are searchable.
    - You can also search for TenForumsTutorials in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com/tutorials after your search term. For example,
    taskbar toolbars site:tenforums.com/tutorials

You can search TenForums using the search box in the top-right corner of all TenForums webpages or using Advanced Search - TenForums
    - You can also search TenForums threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com after your search term. For example,
Search for drivers by HardwareID site:tenforums.com

Yes, that is typical behaviour when you have set up the PC to sign in automatically, but have set it up with an incorrect password.

If you turn off automatic sign in you'll be back to only one account on the sign in screen. Or set up the automatic sign in again, being careful to get the password correct this time.

That's what I thought, but I reentered and same thing happened. I'm doubting I typed wrong both times. And to make sure I'm doing it correctly, I go to "netplwiz", uncheck the Require Sign In checkbox, and enter in the username and password there, right?

No, undo it first as a separate operation - Set the checkbox not clear it.
    Then reboot.
    Then do it correctly.

I think you did not see post #2. When you get a notifications of replies there might have been several of them so you always need to look back up the thread to the point you had previously seen so that you look through all replies since then. And then do look at the bottom for any indication that there is a new page with further replies; it is surprisingly easy to miss them too.

Thanks. Yes, I missed that earlier post. Sorry about that.

Thank you again. It's working perfectly now. I never rebooted after I would force the log in. I would select the checkbox, Apply, then uncheck, Apply. Then reboot. Didn't realize I needed to reboot after each setting change.

I'm glad it has been sorted out.

Now would be a good time to make a system image and to check that you have the password written down somewhere secure yet accessible.

Thanks. This is just a spare build from parts left over. I run double backups on my main build.
