The problem arises when I try to remove my Windows PIN. It prompts me for the password to the local account "Ellary". Which I don't have. So how do I reset the password for the local account?

I seem to have missed or lost sight of the fact that you do not know Ellary's password.

You'll need to use Option 5 or Option 6.

You might also want to double-check which type it is using

Ellary appears in netplwiz. ellar does not.
When I select Ellary the Password for Ellary box says I need to use ctl-alt-dlt to change it.
Here's what I get from net users ellar:

I think this mess was caused when I was hacked a couple of years ago.

I think ellar might be your first attempt at creating a spare user account.
It's password was last changed on 4/3/2023 which I believe means 3rd April 2023 [in your US date format].

You posted in Enable or Disable Passwordless Sign-in - TenForumsTutorials [which is a different yet related subject].
You do not need to look in that tutorial unless your NetPlWiz has no checkbox.
If your NetPlWiz has no checkbox then you use that tutorial to make sure it displays one. You can then return to NetPlWiz.

Since Ellary appears in your NetPlWiz list, I suggest you change its password using what I wrote in post #22 above and then attempt the NetPlWiz setup.
If the response does not match what it says in Sign in User Account Automatically - TenForumsTutorials [the NetPlWiz tutorial] then I suggest you ask about that in the tutorial thread itself.

It's very late here. I'll be back tomorrow.

    All the best,
    Denis

    Denis,
Setting my pw for Ellary was the solution. I now boot to my desk top.
Thanks for all of your help. It was very informative.
One last question: is there a command to remove that ellar account.

I'm glad it's all been resolved,

    Oh, and welcome to TenForums.

It's really worth making time to browse through the Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every page.
    - At the foot of the Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
    - I download a new copy each month.
    - By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
    - Tutorials are also listed by category at Tutorials - there's also a shortcut to that at the top of every page.
    - Both tutorial lists are searchable.
    - You can also search for TenForumsTutorials in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com/tutorials after your search term. For example,
    taskbar toolbars site:tenforums.com/tutorials

You can search TenForums using the search box in the top-right corner of all TenForums webpages or using Advanced Search - TenForums
    - You can also search TenForums threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com after your search term. For example,
Search for drivers by HardwareID site:tenforums.com
    - [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of TenForums webpages does automatically]
