    CurrentUser (string value) shows USERNAME


    Hi all. in "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control" There is a string value key called "CurrentUser" in that key it says "USERNAME" ChatGPT said by default it should not have anything in that key at all. My Win username is not USERNAME. So why does it not show my name? Can you guys check if it's empty on your Windows 10 Pro or if it also says USERNAME?     I also have USERNAME in that entry. I am on Windows 10 Home.

    Its often set by a OEM install so its a standard install

    The same key exists in W7.

    If you believe this site, it's a legacy placeholder.

dmis string
in AntiVirus, Firewalls and System Security

I ran an sfc/scannow and it revealed corrupted files that could not be fixed. I tried to run a dmis but could not get the source correct. I upgraded to windows 10 and don'y know what the correct string is. Please help! Thanks, Harvey Stobezki
