Win 10 Pin and or password required! Cant remove .

Hello I'm new here. My issue is with my wife's Laptop..that is the one she uses. I had set it up years back to require no passwords, or pins at start-up. Some how, or somewhere she was being required to enter a pin, or password. I went yesterday to the user account to sign in options every switch that requires sign in, is set to off. I then ran netplwiz to uncheck the "user must use password" it was already unchecked. Upon startup I noticed at the password/pin screen there is two person icons with my wife's name visible in the lower left corner. Depending on which one you click on, it requires either a password, or pin. Too under the data entry field box it states; "we were unable to connect right now. Please check your network and try again later." BTW internet connection seems to be connected. So at this point I don't know how to un-do What ever has been done. Any help with this greatly appreciated! Ron

    Hello roneg, and welcome.

It sounds like you may need to set up netplwiz again using step 4 below to update it.

Sign in User Account Automatically at Windows 10 Startup

In addition, you can check this below to turn off require sign-in on wakeup.

Turn On or Off Require Sign-in on Wakeup in Windows 10

Thank you Brink for your speedy response. As for your first suggestion you suggest I use the option one step 4 to; sign in user account automatically? to not sign in, automatically? In your second suggestion her LT is already set to "never".

I think I have solved the issue. Here is what I did (for others). Win key+R> type netplwiz>if your users must enter name and password box is un-checked (even though the password screen is showing upon start-up) then check it. Follow up by entering the password (required) to apply settings. select Apply, and OK. close window. shut down, then re start> inter password>go to Win key+R >enter netplwiz hit run or OK> un-check the box previously checked. provide password select apply and OK. This did it for me. There may be better/faster way, but this worked in my case.
