    Ownership of a file

In the last month or so I am repeatedly getting messages telling me I cannot open some files as I do not have owner or administrator permission to do so.
I have Googled this, and tried numerous ways of overcoming this, but with no joy.
I am administrator so do not understand why this is happening.
As I said, I had no problems until about a month ago, and have not installed anything since then that could have affected this.
I would be grateful for any advice regarding this?
    Many thanks.

Depends too on which files they are and where they are located.

    Examples please?

A quick example is a photo I took of my dogs, which I transferred to the Pictures folder on my PC.
When I try to open it, I get the message (see attachment).

which I transferred to the Pictures folder
That can happen when bringing files in from 'outside' such as downloads, E-Mail attachments, cameras, etc.

Ah, that's PaintShop Pro you are using. It's probably not ownership or permissions, it's much more likely that PSP as a 3rd-party app is being blocked by Controlled Folder Access.

Add your PSP as an allowed app and you should have access.

I had to add my PSP, along with a number of other 3rd-party apps such as LibreOffice.

I assume you would have said if there were any errors during login.

If this problem applies to all your files then wonder if you are logged in normally.

1 You can check what you are logged in as by running this command
    - in a cmd window
    Code:
    echo %UserName%
    - or in a PS window
    Code:
    $env:UserName

    2 And take a look in C:\Users.
    - Anything unusual there?
    - Is a folder matching your UserName shown?
    - Is a folder called Temp shown? Fix You've been signed in with a temporary profile - TenForumsTutorials

By the way, it is generally both risky & unnecessary to keep the Built-in Admin account enabled [the one with the UserName Administrator, as illustrated in your diagram].
If you want to keep a spare account or two for emergencies, such as user account corruption, make one or two of your own - Create two spare local, password-protected Admin accounts [post #2] in Windows 10, 11 - TenForums
If you take this precaution you will never need to enable the Built-in Admin account again.

It seems to be caused by the latest version of Malware Fighter Pro, which is the protection program that I have had for quite a few years, with no problems before.
I tried uninstalling it, and everything works fine now.
Many thanks for the replies and advice.

    I'm glad it's fixed.
You do realise that the built-in Defender is good?

    Welcome to TenForums.

It's really worth making time to browse through the Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every page.
    - At the foot of the Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
    - I download a new copy each month.
    - By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
    - Tutorials are also listed by category at Tutorials - there's also a shortcut to that at the top of every page.
    - Both tutorial lists are searchable.
    - You can also search for TenForumsTutorials in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com/tutorials after your search term. For example,
    taskbar toolbars site:tenforums.com/tutorials

You can search TenForums using the search box in the top-right corner of all TenForums webpages or using Advanced Search - TenForums
    - You can also search TenForums threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com after your search term. For example,
Search for drivers by HardwareID site:tenforums.com
    - [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of TenForums webpages does automatically]
