It seems that this is achievable as follows:...
I don't disagree with you but note that the relevant procedure has already been referenced [It's a TenForums tutorial] -

    Welcome to TenForums.

It's really worth making time to browse through the Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every page.
    - At the foot of the Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
    - I download a new copy each month.
    - By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
    - Tutorials are also listed by category at Tutorials - there's also a shortcut to that at the top of every page.
    - Both tutorial lists are searchable.
    - You can also search for TenForumsTutorials in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com/tutorials after your search term. For example,
    taskbar toolbars site:tenforums.com/tutorials

You can search TenForums using the search box in the top-right corner of all TenForums webpages or using Advanced Search - TenForums
    - You can also search TenForums threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com after your search term. For example,
Search for drivers by HardwareID site:tenforums.com
    - [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of TenForums webpages does automatically]

Hello and I'm sorry if I'm late getting back to you all. I appreciate the help you all have given me. And I've also read the tutorial page everyone is linking to and I have the following observations...

    7. Note that you will have to enter your password each time you return to your computer after a period of inactivity.
Well that's the whole point to this thread. I don't want to enter a password, especially since the machine is still running in the background anyway, with only the screen going black.

If you don't want to enter a password all the time, you can use the screen lock settings to adjust the duration for which the screen remains lit before dimming.
That would require the screen to stay lit for hours at a time (since I'm running tasks for hours at a time), a real energy waster, and again, I don't want it do that.

    - - In the tutorial page under Group policy, it says... - -

If you don't configure (default) this policy setting on a workgroup device, a user on a Modern Standby device can change the amount of time after the device's screen turns off before a password is required when waking the device.
Again, I do not want the device to lock up at all. I want no password period, other than to initially turn on the machine from a cold boot.

Additionally, if a password is required when a screensaver turns on, the screensaver timeout will limit the options the user may choose.
It sounds like it's an either/or situation. Either I have to use a password whenever the screen saver kicks in or I don't, which means leaving the machine as is without the use of a password on boot up.

The tutorial seems to focus on different ways of not having to use a password waking the machine up when it's in hibernation or sleep mode. The difference is my machine is actually fully on all the time, processing what I need to process with only the screen saver kicking in.

Am I missing something in all this?

    Thanks

Hello again and thanks for responding.

Yes, that's pretty self-explanatory. Currently my Power Plan screen saver is set for 5 minutes (plugged and battery) and I'd like that time to stay that way.

I don't think I need to change any setting in the current Power Plan, do I?

That one seems to be more problematic. The instructions are 7 years old (I'm on 22H2) and it looks like somebody (pepanee) was having issues with it. I'm not even sure what he was talking about since I made no modifications to my Power Plan. Do you know what's going on there?

2016 is the published date... latest comments are around 3 weeks old and appear to confirm it's valid.

So are you implying just focus on the tutorial itself and ignore all the problematic comments afterwards?

pepanee later explained that his only issue had been getting confused between two things. There had not been any fault in the first place.

TenForumsTutorials are continually reviewed and revised as Windows 10 evolves.

If you have problems with the Tutorial, please feel free to post a comment under that tutorial.

Inevitably given the huge range of tutorials and Brink publishing these for Win 7, 8, 10 and 11 and Windows continuing to evolve and people running multiple builds, someone somewhere may well experience a discrepany. There are remarkably few.

Ok, so doing this in steps, the first thing I need to do is

    Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts\Manage Accounts

    Doubleclick the account.....Create a password.

    Then we get to...

Turn On or Off Require Sign-in on Wakeup in Windows 10

Enable or Disable Screen Saver Password Protection in Windows

Change Screen Saver Password Grace Period in Windows

So basically, in order to accomplish what I want to do, I'm going to need to apply all three tutorials to make this change? Yes?

    Yes.
Each of those actions is a separate decision & has a separate tutorial.

    "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts\Manage Accounts
    Doubleclick the account.....Create a password.
    "
    is actually
    Change account password - TenForumsTutorials

    All the best,
