How to disable automatic login of admin account? (multiple accounts)

This is super frustrating because I thought it was a super easy settings thing but I can't get anything to work. I've googled it and read multiple articles on it.

So I have 2 accounts on my Asus laptop - mine, which is the admin account of course... and I added a local account user because I'm lending my laptop to a friend for about a month. The local account, I did not put a password on.

I want to keep my account (admin) always password/pin locked and to require a sign-in at all times, restart, initial startup, etc.

It keeps auto logging me in after I startup the computer, I want it to go the sign in screen always so when my friend wants to use the PC he has to go to his account that I made on the laptop. If he tries to get into mine, I of course always want it password/pin locked.

    Win10 Version : 21H1

It does this even when I sign out, shutdown the PC, and turn it back on. How do I stop it from doing this?

Download this: (get the latest version if there is one)

(for Username, use your username. My Username, for example, is actually Admin)
Press the Disable button, restart the computer, and see if this does anything.

Which account are you automatically logged in to?
From your title, presumably your admin account - but you don't say if this is MS or local.
If it's a MS account this might help:
Enable or Disable Passwordless Sign-in for Microsoft Accounts

This also covers enabling/disabling automatic sign-in
Sign in User Account Automatically at Windows 10 Startup

These are from the huge searchable Tutorials section - if unfamiliar with this- do have a look.

I added a local account user
    - presumably you mean a local standard account..

Windows always assumes, when starting, that you want to log in to the user account that was last used.
So it seems your new 'friend' account is what it attempts to log in.
When it reaches the login screen, it sees that you have not entered anything into the password box, it compares that blank entry to the required password & sees that it is correct and therefore logs in.

To stop this behaviour, put a password on the user account.

    All the best,
    Denis

Got it figured out thanks. I had to to the registry fix mentioned in the link you posted

"This also covers enabling/disabling automatic sign-in

I did know know about the netplwiz command but when I would try to use it to find the option "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" it was greyed out and the option wasn't even there. It's odd you have to do a registry fix just to make that appear.....I don't believe my main desktop is like that, just my laptop. Yes correct I added a local standard account.
