[LTSC] Windows Hello Facial Recognition - Installation OR Repair

    (LTSC 2021; 21H2 - 19044, 1949)

    Hello Tech Community,

Recently, I discovered that Windows Hello Facial Recognition is either disabled or removed from Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 (21H2), and after a skim of the archives, could not find any method to install Windows Hello to these devices.

Q: Are/Is the device(s) in question compatible with Windows Hello Facial Recognition?
A: They are by the OEM, claiming that an IR module is specifically installed in each unit with compatibility guaranteed.

Q: Are/Is the device(s) in question using the correct Windows Hello Facial Recognition-compatible driver?
A: The drivers have been installed in full, and Windows prompts users to set up Windows Hello Facial Recognition rather than reporting that no compatible device is installed.

Q: Are/Is the device(s) in question affected by any OEM/user modifications which could inhibit Windows Hello's ability to function properly?
A: Microsoft Edge has been uninstalled (using the built-in uninstaller bundled with LTSC 2021) from the device(s), however no non-standard (including Enterprise-specific) settings/programs have been altered outside of that.

Q: What issue is occurring when attempting to configure Windows Hello Facial Recognition on the device(s)?
A: The introduction to Windows Hello Facial Recognition simply force-stops/crashes when Get Started is pressed, as if an application is not present. This may also be a missing Universal Windows Program (.uwp), as no other UWPs are present in this install, as far as I'm aware.

My question to you: Is it possible to install or repair Windows Hello (the combined package, preferably) to this installation of Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC?
    Thank you,
    Makeineer

    Hi, according to this:
Windows Hello for Business: Next-gen authentication for Windows shops | Computerworld

'Hello' should be available on Enterprise - but from which build is not stated.

The tenforums 'Hello' tutorials make no exceptions in terms of Windows editions.

Set up Face for Windows Hello in Windows 10
Enable or Disable Windows Hello Biometrics in Windows 10

Sorry I can't add more- hopefully someone with experience of Enterprise will be able to.

    'Not a worry, Dalchina.
Unfortunately, this doesn't help my case. I can open the prompt on the device(s), however Get Started simply hard-closes the program. I am running the newest available version of LTSC (2021; 21H2); Definately newer than 1709.

Just thinking- as the next event after 'Get started' is user verification (i.e. PIN) - how do you log in?

I log in using a password, exclusively. Do I need to use a Windows Hello PIN?

Did you have a look at those tutorials?

    Windows Hello Face Requirements:

    PIN added to your account
A Windows Hello compatible IR camera. (examples below)
    Logitech BRIO
    Creative BlasterX Senz3D
    - under 1st paragraph of this:
Set up Face for Windows Hello in Windows 10

Below that are links to various MS documents where you might find more.

Naturally I can't say if using a PIN will solve your issue, but you might even find out something more in trying to set one up.

Adding a PIN did bring me forward a few steps, however it now idles for a few moments, my camera (but not the IR) comes on, then the program gives me a generic "something went wrong" message; Asking me to close then re-open Windows Hello.
    Hmm...

You can now enable passwordless sign-in for Microsoft accounts on your Windows 10 device by going to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options, and selecting On under Make your device passwordless. Originally, I was just not able to find any depenancies for Windows Hello. There seem to be some, however.

As for tweaks/modifications, there are none which would affect anything outside of the taskbar. I have completely wiped Edge from these computers; 'Special dependancies and all. There are not any group policies on the device(s) at this time.
I'm taking a look at that last article; May try it's usefullness.

Cereberus, are you on Enterprise or Enterprise LTSC? They're very different; More-so than Enterprise vs. Education.
