It is a long story and difficult to explain in a few words. I'll have to gather the info and post it here. It may take me a few days to do so, there is a lot of correspondence between me and "VAIO Customer Disservice".
To cut a long story really short, the Laptop was in the shop in CA recently for a hardware issue and the shop screwed up my User Account. And I cannot find any way to fix it. That is why I am looking at giving Account Profile Fixer 1.7.0.0 a go. I have nothing to lose. People have sent me all manner of recommendations to try, nothing worked.

What are the symptoms of it being screwed up?

Because you seem to have difficulty with a simple idea of checking your disk... download prog, run, get result. Very drawn out. Just one tiny basic step. And not yet done. Bye!
Please keep your personal comments to yourself, how rude can you be?

ALSO, this thread is NOT about checking hard drives it is about USER ACCOUNTS. Got it?

Just make a system image backup, ideally one that you can mount in explorer and browse then give APF a go. If it goes wrong then at least you've got a backup image to copy appdata folers from or in the worst case scenario you can just restore the backup.

Thanks Callender, that is exactly what I did, created an image, and a restore point then ran APF. It did exactly what it said it would do. It changed my desktop layout and wallpaper but those are easy fixes, I've done them a million times on various machines.
At least now it shows MY user accoiunt on the login screen and I can use my PIN number again. It also got rid of the extra accounts that the techs created in the shop.
Now for some tidy up to get it looking like it used to.

The only thing I did not do was copy the APPDATA folders, But I can pull a copy from the Macrium backup image. Then paste them into the Appdata folder on the C Op Sys drive.

There's no need if all installed and portable apps are working correctly.

I pretty well have it all back where I wanted it just like it was before it went to the Tech shop. I did not have to do a system reset or use the Macrium image which was created before it went to the techs. I had to tweek a lot of stuff to get things back to where they were and I am just about there. Account Profile Fixer did a great job in "Fixing" my account problem, it got rid of all of the odd accounts which were not mine.
I spent a day or two with Winaero Tweaker to restore many settings, unfortunately, I could not find a saved settings file for it, that would have saved a heck of a lot of time. But I have saved all the latest settings in several places just in case. To make it go a little faster, I opened WTweaker on my Dell desktop PC and made the changes on the laptop the same.
Now I just have to leave the laptop powered on 24x7 for about three days to see if the screen problem still exists.
My sincere thanks go to everyone who contributed to this thread. Wish me luck.

In WinAero Tweaker it is "File" > "Import/ Export Tweaks"

If you didn't export and backup then you can't restore applied tweaks in one go.

I could not find the exported settings file, but it is a moot point now, as I have redone them all.
