    Disable Email Login to Windows

I want to remove the association between my local account and my email address.

It is already a local account, but somehow the profile failed to load, then the Windows created temp folder and I managed to login with email address to local account, which I don't want to be possible.

In all the instructions it says to convert to local account. The problem is, that it is local account already.

When I want to remove association, I don't want my local profile to be deleted, since I have files in there that I need to keep. Can I safely disassociate the email from my local account and how?

Odd. Normally an email address login is associated with a MS account.

Please could you definitively check which type you are actually logged in with:

In your shoes I would create a new local account, copy/move the files you need from the previous account, and then delete the latter.

    Mike,

Several people reported this happening [uninvited] in the early Windows 10 days. It's called a Hybrid account.

The latest decent explanation & guide I have noted is for Windows 11 but I believe it is equally applicable to Windows 10.
Add Microsoft account to Local account for Hybrid account - ElevenForum
If it does prove to be a Hybrid account then para 7 of that tutorial suggests it is reversible. You might wish to join ElevenForum so you can ask Kari what the procedure is for reversing it,

    Best of luck,
    Denis
