"sign in with a local account instead" is missing
On the "your info" tab in Accounts, the "sign in with a local account instead" option is missing. I am running Windows 10 Home, Version 21H2 OS Build 10944.1826.

1 Are you currently logged in to an MSAccount-linked user account then?

2 Please confirm that you are not logged in to the normally-disabled Built-in Admin. If you were then your UserName would be "Administrator" by default. You can check your UserName by running
- this command in a Cmd prompt window
orCode:Echo %UserName%
- this command in a PowerShell window
and you can check that you have not renamed the Built-in Admin account by checking that "Administrator" is still listed in the response to the commandCode:$env:UserName
in either a Cmd or a PowerShell window.Code:net user

Welcome to TenForums.
It's really worth making time to browse through the Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every page.- At the foot of the Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.- Tutorials are also listed by category at Tutorials - there's also a shortcut to that at the top of every page.
- I download a new copy each month.
- By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
- Both tutorial lists are searchable.
- You can also search for TenForumsTutorials in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com/tutorials after your search term. For example,
taskbar toolbars site:tenforums.com/tutorials
You can search TenForums using the search box in the top-right corner of all TenForums webpages or using Advanced Search - TenForums
- You can also search TenForums threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com after your search term. For example,
Search for drivers by HardwareID site:tenforums.com
- [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of TenForums webpages does automatically]

Apparently this is a relatively common issue... at least according to the numbers here,
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...0299bb2?page=1
where there are a couple of screenshots including the 'Your info' screen with this missing.
There is no resolution there, just the suggestion 'The user account is corrupted'.
"Manage my Microsoft Account" takes you (after logging in on line) to
- which might appear to be of interest, but the option to remove a device seems to be for devices you no longer use.

Oh, okay. I'll try factory resetting it - thanks.
That's going too far.
If you're not going to conduct the tests I suggested then your best bet is simply to create a new, local, password-protected user account then raise it to be an Admin account if you want and start using that user account instead.
- You can worry about copying across files from your old account when you are happy that the new account is working correctly.
- There is absolutely no rush to remove the old account.
- Personally, I also create two spare local, password-protected Admin user accounts so I can feel well-protected against user account corruption.
