How to Block WIN10 Update BS?

I couldn't get into my computer just now unless I created a new password.

I mean, if a guy doesn't want a password, how do I opt out of this bloody nonsense?

    This is unbelievable.
"Finish setting up your computer" was just on just now, a couple years after setting up my computer.

    What gives?
How can I check my password when I can't get on my computer to check my password?

Sorry for rant, but all this BS is really getting out of hand.

Damn, this issue seems petty after seeing the tragedy in Uvalde just now...........wow.

There may be a couple of things at play here. First, it's possible that Windows may have forced an update to a new version if you were running a version of Windows 10 that was or is about to become no longer supported.

You can go into Settings > Windows Update > View update history to check if a new feature update was just installed.

Second, it may have forced the changing of the password if you did not explicitly select the option to set your password to never expire. Do this to confirm:

Right-click Start then select Computer management > Local Users and Groups > Users > Double-click your user name. On the General tab, check to see if Password never expires is selected.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks.

No updates the day before yesterday.
No, it didn't force a password change, The blue pages of "Let's set up your computer', something like that came on on start up. Of course I didn't remember the stupid password. I figured set up the computer, get thru all the MS BS in the blue pages and never deal with it again. So, then, I had to create a new password to get thru the pages into the computer.

I found this account, whatever it might be, WDAGUtilityAccount, with the box unchecked.

Four other accounts, whatever they may be were checked.
One was my initials, JP, others were Administrator, Guest, and DefaultAccount.
    Five altogether.

All except my initials have account is disabled and password never expires.

My initials account only has password never expires checked. It was checked yesterday when this happened.

BTW, when looking at this stuff, somewhere I saw my two year old system cannot support 11. What?

I'll try to get in front of a Windows 10 machine later to see if I can figure out anything more regarding the password weirdness.

As for the system not supporting Windows 11, run the PC System Health Check from the link in this article:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...7-88258df6812b

This will tell you why your system cannot run 11. It may be something simple like not having the Firmware TPM enabled in the BIOS.

Post back your results and I'll help you determine what to do. Also, be aware that it is possible to run 11 even on technically unsupported hardware. If that is something you want to do (only if we determine that your system REALLY doesn't meet minimum specs), I can guide you through this.

It's part of Windows and meant to be there....

What is the WDAGUtilityAccount local account?

WDAGUtilityAccount is part of Application Guard, beginning with Windows 10, version 1709 (Fall Creators Update). It remains disabled by default, unless Application Guard is enabled on your device. WDAGUtilityAccount is used to sign in to the Application Guard container as a standard user with a random password. It is NOT a malicious account. If Run as a service permissions are revoked for this account, you might see the following error:

Error: 0x80070569, Ext error: 0x00000001; RDP: Error: 0x00000000, Ext error: 0x00000000 Location: 0x00000000

We recommend that you do not modify this account.

    Thanks.

Again, no password weirdness. The blue pages, you know, the ones that report to MS if you don't uncheck the box or put icons on the task bar if you don't uncheck another box, of a new install, were there and I had to go thru them all. Password issue is only because I forgot it of course two years later. Why the blue setup pages were there when I turned on my computer is the actual mystery.

I'll hold off on 11 for now. Need to see other's experiences first.

    Thanks.

I left it there. I'm very afraid of messing with stuff like this. Regedit changes had me shaking in my boots when I was doing them in the past.

    Just select Continue.
No need to sign in or create a MS account, leave the box blank > Cancel.

It is the least irritating option.

Exactly what I was looking for. The second video shows how to turn it off in settings.

    Thank you
