Stopped working again after it was functional for 4 months

Must have stopped working after another Windows Update the other day.
I found an old Fingerprint reader in C:\swsetup and installed that. Then found the Validity Sensor (WBF) (PID=0050) driver and it said it installed successfully. Rebooted and the fingerprint reader flashed but no action when I swiped my fingerprint.

I know you use a PIN....I just like the fingerprint reader....when it works!

    Any suggestions?

Thank you for any assistance on this matter....again!!!

It may be that a/the driver is updated and you need to guard against that. (Tutorial- prevent specific device driver being updated).

It may be that the hardware itself is unreliable.

If you had Pro, I'd suggest setting Updates to Notify, so no update is applied without your approval- then you can spot (and revert) that update and act appropriately to stop it happening again.

    All guessing games...

And to give yourself a second chance to detect it, schedule a System Restore point to be created daily (tutorial available).
Then, when it stops working, you can try using a restore point and see if it works again. If it does, it's some event after that that will (again) stop it...
