I wanted to try remote desktop control of my PC, and apparently the password is not right for some reason
I log into this PC with a PIN
but a PIN is not a password, and in user accounts, my admin account is password protected.

You are not able to do this:
Open an administrative cmd prompt:
Logoff and log back in with the new password. The system will automatically update your Pin to current PW...Code:Net user UserName NewPassword
Does your current account that you use have admin rights ?
If not, there are ways to create and enable a new administrator account.
NO, I tried and is has an error doing that.
Would switching from PIN to password solve this? OR is it going to lock me out of my pc.

I am the only admin
In one place it says sdown is my admin name, under user accounts, it says sdowney717@xxxxxxx.com, which is different. I log in with a PIN

You should be able to change the password of your tied account from the account.live.com console.
Never seen that.
I set it to use a local password, no stupid PIN anymore.
Then it wanted me to login, of course I could not.
So I clicked 'forgot my password'
It prompted me to reset my password and sent a code to my gmail account.
After some gyrations od being forced to do it twice in a row, I successfully changed my password.
And it is now set to login to the PC using a local account with password.
What though is my user name?? is it sdown, or my email address?
well still wont work.

I say yes, and it says the user name and password is not correct.
So I tried the account name with my email, same thing. BUT I am also connected to the PC using google remote desktop, I will disconnect and try again with microsoft remote desktop

I disconnected google remote desktop, and tried with Microsoft, and it fails.
I downloaded from MS store the microsoft remote desktop app, is that the one I am supposed to use for this?

I restarted the PC, and selected at login page to use password, not PIN, apparently still an option.
And I am now logged in with the new password on the PC, will try again remote desktop

Ok, remote desktop is logged in now.
But the remote screen just shows picture of my login background, that makes it useless, say if you were trying to help someone see something on the PC. Also no sound for the webcam on the remote PC when it is logged in, as in click record, I get an error, the video shows, but no sound is recorded.
So really so far it is a fail.
If I then on the remote PC, login, it disconnects the remote desktop, fail for my needs. Google desktop does not do that, but it has terrible sound, like running 5 time too slow, but the video is ok. Fail all around so far for remoting, is my experience.

OK, I do get sounds on youtube, the sounds for a webcam fail, says microphone not available. This is when running that from the remote PC, the mic does work on the remote PC when not being remoted into .

So anyway it is a constant opposition from the softwares, nothing works like it should. I was wanting to point the web cam at the front door, and if the doorbell rings, remote into the downstairs PC to see who it is.
but no sound, and it also blanks off the remote PC screen, forcing a login to resume whatever it was doing before.
