I think @dalchina, @Try3, @Ghot you will have to wait for your screenshots until tomorrow. It's 9:15PM. I've been sitting at my computer since 7:00AM.You might think this is a simple task, but it's not simple to understand all these instructions. I'm very tired as well. Not the best time to learn something new. So I will continue this conversation tomorrow. I understand exactly what you are asking for and why. I'm just sorry I can't provide this for you with a flick of the wrist.

@dalchina - For USER Partition read USER Folder. I can only dream of using a cloud based password manager. Can you suggest any?

Several can share the same database and sync to the cloud. I use Roboform - I use it on Windows and Android and in multiple browsers. It's the only one I've found that can pop up a prompt where characters must be manually filled (e.g. 1/3/6 from password on drop downs or similar). (I got a special low cost 5 year deal).

Then Lastpass is another that syncs across devices.

Some have reservations about security and prefer to keep thing local.

Typically the free version is a single device with limitations; licensed to get full features.

    Fair enough.

1 Do note that, for each of the net user commands, you could just hold down your mouse button then move it across all the text, press ctrl-c and paste it all into a text file.
You'd then be able to overtype your real username with user if you wanted to before posting the text here.

2 And, as for screenshots, study the tutorial link I gave you but, to my mind, the simplest method of taking a screenshot is,
Press WinKey-PrintScrn unless your keyboard has a Fn key in which case you'll probably have to press WinKey-Fn-PrintScrn
then paste this straight into the File explorer address bar
    C:\Users\%UserName%\Pictures\Screenshots
[This folder is created when you take your first Screenshot]
and you will find all your screenshots. This is described in the tutorial.
As you'll see, there are a variety of ways of capturing screen images. I often use the Snipping tool
my ditty - A basic guide to using the Snipping tool - TenForums

3 And [you'll find this explained in the second tutorial link] I find that the simplest & best way to post a diagram here is, in the post's editing toolbar Lost myWin10 User Partition Name-editing-toolbar.png, click on the Lost myWin10 User Partition Name-insert-image-icon.jpg icon then browse to your diagram, select it and click on OK.

    Best of luck,

    My comments:
    1) I've no idea what defaultuser0 is. It was there when I nistalled Windows.
    2) I've no idea what defaultuser0 does.
    3) The Guest under net user, jopay has never used this account. It could be deleted
    4) Also in net user, you can see there is no USER account
    5) The net user USER seems to show my USER account which cannot be accessed
    6) The net user admin seems to show my ADMIN account whch can be accessed
    7) The past and copy to a file was not easy to figure out, and after I had and copied and pasted to here, it needed considerable editing to make it readable again. But it will be well worth it if it helps to recover my User Account.

    @dalchina

I don't actually need to show this. It can be shown from the net user statements above (I think). It has 2 users Admin and USER (not the real name) So it's stating I have two users, but I only have access to the Admin, and boots to Admin where it used to boot to USER. But this give me some hope that I might be able to recover the USER user.

What? Just when its beginning to look like a distant possibility to recover my USER partition you're giving up on all further help? What is it you see that I can't see? Was it something I said that offended you. I never, ever intended any offense. Ever.

I've numbered these points because I thought this post was long and confusing. I hope it helps your reply.

    1 I'm sorry, I'm a bit confused by this.
1.1 Are you saying that your net user response was
    Code:
    Administrator DefaultAccount defaultuser0
    Guest jopay USER
    1.2 or
    Code:
    Administrator DefaultAccount defaultuser0
    Guest jopay
1.3 The USER account must exist because its net user USER response was there.
1.4 It is not disabled, it is Active. [But clearly defective]
1.5 But I do note that its last logged in time appears to be this morning [your morning, 2022-01-25 10:03:12 AM] This puzzles me.
1.6 I think it must be an MSAccount-linked user account but I'd still recommend, for the time being, creating replacement accounts that are local accounts.

2 Do you know how to make File explorer display hidden & system files?
File explorer, View menu, Options, View
Set Show hidden files, folders & drives
Clear Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
    {Return it to normal fairly soon because it does give some protection against finger-trouble.}
Does the C:\Users\USER folder now appear?

3 Is it shown in your recycle bin?

4 I do not think you could possibly have caused this mess.
4.1 I think Windows would stop any user deleting their own user folder despite the fact that the relevant permissions do exist for that.
4.2 Only another Admin account [or action taken outside Windows] should be able to delete that folder.
4.3 I assume you haven't been working in, say, another bootup disk such as a Windows InstallUSB because that would have no problem deleting your user folder.
    4.4 Possible malware

    5 Backups?
    Try3 said:
You should not expect to get any files back from your old user account. I'm sorry but that's what I think. What backups do you have?

    6 Ancillary issues

6.1 defaultuser0 is an accidental left-over from when your computer maker's set up of your computer. It should be deleted at the end of the process but several people find it still hanging around. It can be deleted but it is not at all significant so I suggest just making a note to do so after everything else has been dealt with.
    Delete User Account - TenForumsTutorials

6.2 Guest should be left alone. It is disabled as you'd see if you ran the command net user Guest - it has the entry Active - No. Windows 10 makes Guest but disables it because it is regarded as a security vulnerability if enabled. I imagine it's still hanging around to assist with backwards compatibility.

6.3 jopay can be deleted if you wish but I'd wait to resolve the current situation as far as is possible first.

6.4 "The net user admin seems to show my ADMIN account" Just be a bit careful with references to this one. It is not your account but Windows'. I always try to remember to write it out in full as the account with the username Administrator or the Built-in Admin account to ensure there are no misunderstandings.

6.5 "The past and copy to a file was not easy to figure out" Yes, it can be a pain.

And I really am sorry to be the bearer of bad news,

    @Try3

Sorry. I've been away trying to get my emails and password manager back. I'm really crippled without them. I've now approx got my emails back. It's not as tidy as before, but just a couple of emails to recover. It was a LOT of work. I Just got Nord Pass & VPN logins working, so it shouldn't be long before they are working too. Will come back and answer your questions hopefully within a day.

@Try3 Sorry. Had some stuff to fix up from all this mess

    1. Yes. net user states jopay, USER. I didn't put any significance to that. This USER was my 1st Amin Account I setup when I got the computer.. It had Admin priviIedges but I used this as my only account, basically used this as my work and admin account. Does this provide and hope or no hope to recovering it. I think not.

    2. I don't know how to do that. But. I see all the files in C:\Users\USER. It has all my files there. Should I backup all this folder to another folder immediately?

    3. Is what shown in the recycle bin?

    4. I did a scan with Malware Hunter which took 2-3 hours. I think it found 1 sector. I don't remember now if I corrected it or not. Should I check again? And I did a scan with AOMEI Partition Assistant 9.6 which took about 12+ hours and I don't think it found anything. Should I try something else. BitDefender?

    5. I probably don't have any recent backup which I could rely on. It would do more harm than good.

6.1 defaultuser0 OK Leave for now
    6.2 Guest - OK Leave
6.3 jopay - Thats what I think too.
6.4 Admin - This is the only thing breathing life into this computer *
    * Let me go thru the boot process. Boot, get a blinking on this Admin Login Screen. Have to do Cntl-Alt-Del for this blinking screen to go away. I get the cntl-alt-del menu. Choose logout. Log back in correctly this second time and I'm correctly in the Admin Account. My ONLY account left.

Is there any point me asking Microsoft If USER can be recovered? Otherwise. I'm very ready to create my 2nd Admin Account to replace the Admin Account I lost, USER. And to copy everything from c:\Users\USER\ to c:\Users\NEWUSER\. Should I create and copy this folder first, or after I've created NEWUSER? Presume I can use the create account to create an Admin Account.

Just to be sure. My first move is going to be to create a new 2nd Admin Account, c:\Users\NEWUSER (or can, or should I try, using my old user, c:Users\USER\)

    And again.

    Apologies for the delay.

    - - - Updated - - -

Just an update. Settings>Accounts>Your Info, tells me I'm in the System Admin Account which I've never used until this happened because I always logged in USER (my missing Admin Account created when I got the machine 4yrs+ ago and created as an Administrator. There was also in there the USER account showing as Regular User not as an Admin. Which was definitely wrong. It should have been an Administrator. So I changed that back to Administrator, and it now appears on Other Users, with my logo (from before), and my photographic memory <joke> tells me this was how it looked before this incident.

So before I do anything else. I'd like to make this the boot folder, and reboot, to see if it boots to this partition. But so far I haven't been able figure out how to do that. So I need help. with that.

I'm not confident it will work. Why? I think there is something wrong with the saving data between C:\Users\* and what is being reported by windows. ie: I think I deleted the \jopay\ user a long time ago, without going thru the menus. This is just 1 example.

But I think it's worth a shot because I "think" my computer is now figured as it should be. What worries me most, is that there may be no connection from what I see in the Windows menu, to actually on the disk. Maybe or Maybe not.

You have been asked to provide screenshots of your disk layout and folder structure, expanding the relevant folder nests so that people who want to help you can see better what the issue may be, you have been given instruction on how to provide the screenshots, and how to mask personal descriptors, so far you have not done any of that.
You are still using the terms folder, partition and user confusingly, making it hard for anyone to keep up.
Please take into account that 'we' cannot see what you are looking at. If you had provided the asked for screenshots and information in the manner requested I am sure this issue could have been solved a lot sooner.
