New Windows 10 user account problem

    Hi,

I want to add a new user account to the PC I'm using so that I have one for work and one for personal use. But each time I create a new user, it has ALL the programs that the personal user has installed. And when I go to my personal user account, it seems to transfer the work user account Microsoft Edge profiles to the personal user account Edge.

Is there a way to make a user account on windows 10 that does not have all the same programs and settings as the personal user account?

    Hi, Welcome to TenForums,

The problem you describe makes me think that both of your local accounts are linked to your MS one.

Delete the second user from the console and remove all files. Open a cmd prompt as administrator and create your local account from there.
    Code:
    net User username password /add
add the user to admin group.
    Code:
    net localgroup Administrators username /add
Log off and log in the new account. You now have a local account that has no link to MS. and wont share anything unless configured to.

For the applications part It depends on the software provider, if they give the option to install for one user only... But you can still take the start menu entries from the Public folder and move them to the account you want them to appear...

Both accounts will always share the same Program Files, but will have their own settings. Since it is for your personnal uses, it should be good.

Right, that's the problem. When I say personal uses, I mean that I use it for online streaming which means I have very specific settings and programs for it. For example, for all sound, I use VoiceMeteer Banana.

I did take your advice and created a new user with no link to MS but if I change the sound settings on that profile, it messes up the sound settings in my personal user : /

I suspect I need to uninstall things such as Firefox, VoiceMeteer Banana etc from my personal and then see if I can reinstall the programs under the specific user.

Unless there's another way to do it?
