    Remove requirement to log in

OK Have given up for now hoping to open my laptop in one click from the desktop but- how can I remove the need to log in to my laptop?

    Its Win10 ver 21H2

    This didn't make any difference.

    • Press the Windows Key + R.
    • Type in netplwiz.
    • Select the user account you want to disable the login screen for.
    • Uncheck the box that says “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer”
    • Enter the username and password that's associated with the computer and click OK.

Additionally I'm sure other user shouldn't be there should it?

In user accounts theres only mine TA

    Hi,

If you are using a local account try this procedure.

    Hi woldsweather.

I'm assuming there is no checkbox, or you didn't restart your pc?

    1. Press + I to enter Settings
    2. Click 'Accounts'
    3. Select 'Sign in options'
    4. Then turn off 'require Windows hello sign-in for microsoft accounts' by changing the switch.

It's worth noting that on newer versions of windows this can be a drop down.

    5. Search'netplwiz'into the taskbar.
    6. Uncheck 'Users must enter a username and password to use this computer.'

That appears if the wrong password has been entered in netplwiz.

Undo your netplwiz change, reboot, log in manually, redo netplwiz.

I'm following this because, since at least 20H1 I was never able to bring the Check mark back in netplwiz.

I never used MS accounts, can someone confirm that MS accounts should appear in neplwiz ?

I can also see that there are two users with the same name on OP's Screenshot, that could also be a reason for it not to work.

And I also forgot about to mention Autologon from Windows SysInternals, that woks great and Encrypts the password.

    Malok,

Sign in User Account Automatically - TenForumsTutorials
says that you need to use
Enable or Disable Passwordless Sign-in - TenForumsTutorials
    to get the checkbox back.

Both local & MSAccounts appear in NetPlWiz.

"I can also see that there are two users with the same name on OP's Screenshot, that could also be a reason for it not to work."
It's not so much a reason as a symptom of an error in setting up NetPlWiz.

    All the best,
    Denis
