So... after all the #$%^ above I get the sense that I cannot use Netplwiz or "some other utility" to get Windows to Log On automatically using a PIN like it currently does using the Microsoft Password?

I'm pretty sure I saw something somewhere on a forum that said there was a way to do that??

Ok, I give up. I've tried to understand your question and give you a sensible answer to which you can't think to give a decent acknowledgement.

    IMHO your question is meaningless.

Either you automatically log on, or you use a PIN. In what way, sense, shape or form do you think you can possibly have both?

I found the post I mentioned above: 21H1 version of Windows 10 Pro - make PIN go away? Solved - Windows 10 Forums (tenforums.com)

Post #6 is what I was looking for! I'll give it a try on one of my machines.

    Ken,

And please do post back with your results. I had never before seen anybody state that NetPlWiz can be set using a PIN.

    All the best,

So if that was asked and answered 5 months ago, why again now?

    And I seriously doubt whether that's a viable and/or workable solution - I suspect there's a few details missing somewhere .... ?

A little late but I'm back! I finally got around to playing with the netplwiz.exe and PIN issue. It appears like you people are right - I think I've tried every combination of Windows 10 Sign-In options and netplwiz.exe settings and cannot make auto logon work using a PIN!

I do not understand what you mean - I have a PIN but I can still auto login to PC.

You setup netwplwiz using your MS account passwords - you do not enter PIN in netplwiz.

If I press Win+L to lock pc, I can unlock it using PIN

There is no issue with netplwiz and PIN - in simple terms the PIN is irrelevant to netplwiz.

I think it is your understanding of how a PIN works that is the issue.

Yes, I set the PC up with a PIN and then used netplwiz.exe to auto login with my MSFT Password. That worked but...I did not "understand" if I was getting the "benefit" of the PIN Security by not exposing the MSFT Password over the internet. You're right I am not smart enough to understand what is really going on!

    @Wisewiz

Please could you help the OP with your PIN-based netplwiz procedure.

    All the best,

    Denis:

Nope. Based on my last post #18 and all the comments above it is apparent that I either use a PIN to log in manually or I override the PIN and use netplwiz.exe to log in automatically with my Microsoft password. No magic. I give up on trying to use the PIN for the added security! I'd rather have the convenience of auto log on.
