It begins to get complicated. How are you going to reproduce that in you new installation, start to be a question.

If you're still in Linux you ca use "Readlink -f symlinkName" to get the destination of the link

In Windows "Dir /a" will show links and junctions of current directory. Or better put File explorer in detail view Right click column, More, select Link Target

    Ok... try with Dir /a...

Windows Didn't let me copy any of them and sometime will shows a Security access error or does nothing.

I Tested in Windows 7 and 10 same reaction, Both with working or dead links

    UPDATE - 1 DAY

Thank you to the following users for help: @MaloK, @Berton; and @Ghot;. I'm currently in Linux Mint typing this message. @MaloK, since I've cut + paste the Minecraft education edition folder to the root of the drive, I can't put it back and I'm getting this error in Linux Mint:
    Attachment 356058

@Berton; Have you worked this on Windows.old???
I've used Linux a number of times working on clients' computer to recover their files from both Windows and Windows.old [usually not many in Windows.old] so mostly a seek and find. Nearly always if a program didn't work properly after an update or Upgrade reinstalling it was the fix.

Boot to a Linux LiveDVD created from the downloaded .iso file, of course that presumes you have an ODD/Optical Disc Drive in your computer or an External USB version. Use Files to access the folder on the internal drive and locate the file/s desired to copy to a USB drive.

I think OPs problem resides in the fact that the data he is trying to recover is located at the end of a SymLink

But all those contained in what he is trying to recover and at the moment are broken.

Note that they also would not have been copied before the upgrade too...

The only thing needed, is to find where is the "LocalState" Link Target points. and if the target directory is still there.

Beyond this... I would call it a no-go.

That explains it well. I’ll try this tomorrow / 2022!
