unable to reset forgotten password for local windows account

when i built my windows laptop I set up a local account and password
but then I switched to PIN access to login
I now what to sink data between this laptop and another laptop on my network
however it wants me to sign in with the username and password for my laptop in order to authenticate
I cant remember the windows password as I have used the PIN for so long
I have had a look online to see how I can reset the local password but having no joy
I dont get a forgotten password prompt that would allow me to try and reset using the security questions either

as mentioned the main reason is so I can sync data between 2 laptops

    any thoughts?

    Thanks Bart

Tried Option 2 from the tutorial as I didn't create a password reset disk.
However the Reset Password option is greyed out for the account.

    Hi,

Open an administrative command prompt and change the PW with Net:

    Code:
    net user YourUserName YourNewPassword
You will have to logoff and log back in.

The first time you will need to use your new password to login then your pin will be updated and will be re-enabled.

I just tested it, and you don't need to know the current PW to change it.
