Yes I have tried the other account, and except when first opened all desktop icons are minimised everything seems identcal, including being shown as an Administrator Account plus the Outlook account failure and what happens when I try to use passwords ie. security code either not received on my phone or rejected if it is. Is this identicality what is expected?

I have had a second Chat with an MS Advisor (after a struggle to get it linked with my previous one) who took over control of my PC, from which she could see what was happening but was unable to correct it, and closed the session. That was yesterday and am hoping I will be contacted about it as in the past I have had a followup email BUT if so, I hope they dont but fear they will send it to my Outlook email where I wont get it!

The loss of my Outlook email account is a serious issue for me already. When I do get it back I will try to make arrangements to help me avoid or at least remedy the situation. In another post I will clarify what seems to be the current 'state of play.'

Since the local account is, as you say, an Admin then you'll still be able to log into your computer to get full access to everything whatever happens with the wayward MSAccount.

I cannot advise you about the MSAccount problems you are having because I do not use an MSAccount login.
    - I log in with a local account and just have my online email accounts as entries in my MSOffice Outlook list of email accounts to check automatically.
    - I can also, if I wish, go online to check email in a browser. I allow Edge to save those passwords [for convenience] but Edge security is very good so the only way to see its saved passwords is to enter my user account password first [I did a browser password retrieval test last year and Edge resisted all my efforts to use a third-party app to reveal its saved passwords].
    - I also have these accounts set up in the email app of my Android so I can check email on the move [but I hardly ever do this].

    Best of luck,
    Denis

    1. my Microsoft Outlook email account (and other MS functions?) has stopped working on my PC, phone and tablet
    2. when I try to fix it my PIN number is accepted, but then I am requested to enter my password which is not accepted (nor any variations of it I have tried)
    3. all attempts to recover, refresh change the password fail
    4. the procedure asks me to request a security code to be sent to my phone and / or an alternative email address
    5. this CODE is either via email or phone but is either not received by me or if it arrives and is entered it is rejected
    6. I keep requesting a CODE with the same result -- and am informed there have been too many requests 'try again tomorrow'
    7. today is a tomorrow, it is Sunday and this performance began on Thursday
    8. many of the attempts to change the password or edit my personal information etc are blocked by the need to enter my password
    9. to change my (not working) password, or accomplish other related tasks I must first sign in with my password ---so I am stuck in an endless Catch 22 loop
    10. no one, including two Microsoft Advisors has been able to resolve this

Yes I tried the local account but everything was identical to the main account, including being locked out and passwords rejected. But out of the blue my Outlook email came to life and started down loading mails --- in fact hundreds of them going back to March (from October). I will have a lot of deleting to do but my MS Outlook account is now alive again on all 3 plus devices.

Account Recovery coincided with the install of the latest performance Update. Coincidence?
