Getting into a muddle with MS password on 3 devices
After a recent problem with the MS Windows sign in password had gone away, things (including me) are now getting into a major muddle. It started with a request for me to update my MS Outlook password on my Android phone. It was rejected as being wrong. I decided it would be easier to put it right in my TabletPC, by changing the password there. This kept getting rejected because my existing password was not accepted. I tried several versions of the password to no avail (and probably a wrong move as I have got muddled over which versions I have tried ----I have human memory problems as well as digital ones, despite writing things down.) The phone continues to say the passwords are wrong. So I hoped to start afres on my Android Tablet but the muddle got worse.
I log in automatically on my main PC so somewhere the system has my correct password ---yes? One thing which I think might help is if there was a simple way to check the passwords I try on the PC, without having to keep trying to change the password, the only procedure I have found, Rather cumbersome and it riskes corrupting the now unknown but correct password. I used to be able to display a list of most (app etc) passwords in use via Edge, but that page has become blank.
I hope this explanation is not too confusing.
