Cannot switch from Administrator to standard user

I needed to temporarily use Administrator, and now cannot return to my normal user account

If I shut down and restart, I come up in administrator

The Start menu only lists administrator

I tried netplwiz, going to the Group Membership tab and selecting standard user. Nothing happened.

I need to return to my standard user account and have it appear when I restart.

I'm running an updated win10 on an old Dell T3500 with mbr, not EUFI

That is very strange as it should show BOTH your ORIGINAL UserName and Administrator.

    To Remove the Administrator . . .

[1] Press the Win + X keys together > Command Prompt (Admin).
[2] Type the command below into the Administrator: Command Prompt Window > Enter.

    Code:
     net user Administrator /active:no

    I hope this helps.

On start up Windows attempts to sign you in as the last account that was signed in when it shut down. If that was Administrator as it has no password then it will go straight in without asking for a password.

If you sign out from Administrator you should see the list of all available user accounts. Choose your old one, sign in, and next time you start up that will be the account that Windows will try to sign in to.

    Bree: Missed your answer.
My problem is I cannot sign out as administrator. I just have one other account, so assume that I would automatically use it if I am not in administrator.

It should look like this BEFORE you press Enter . . .

Cannot switch from Administrator to standard user-administrator_no.jpg

The C:\Windows\system32> is the Elevated CMD Prompt, you just need to type what I have posted [ net user Administrator /active:no ] into it and press Enter.

Once the Administrator has been REMOVED, it should automatically sign-in to your ORIGINAL UserName account.

    I hope this helps.

    How do I do it?
When I sign to cmd as Administrator, I see
    C:\Users\Admininistrator
If I press Enter, the same line appears. I cannot avoid it.

    Hello @Jim8080,

    OK, let us try this.

Click Windows [ bottom left ] > click Administrator > Sign-Out. Like this [ obviously this is MINE but you get the idea ] . . .

Cannot switch from Administrator to standard user-administrator_no.png

    I hope this helps.
