    Booting from the Walmart DVD

    Linda,

    1 Boot selection

I think you have already told me that yours is 64 bit so you can just check that's selected and press the Enter/Return key

    2 Regional settings {not illustrated by Walmart}

The above is mine. I think yours might well be

Perhaps the Walmart DVD sequence skips this but I'd be surprised.
    - Just select your own region {US, I suppose but didn't think to ask you} in the three choices then click on the Next button.
    - If you don't have a USB mouse / touchpad then you can use arrow keys & the tab key to move around the different entries and, when Next is selected, press Return.

3 Install now / Repair your computer choice
Unknown original administrator name and password-03-walmart-3.png
You must choose Repair your computer.
    - If you have a USB mouse / touchpad then you can just click on that.
    - If you don't have a USB mouse / touchpad then press the tab key to cycle over the choices or press whichever letter is underlined in Repair your computer [their diagram is badly edited so I can't tell if it is the R or the E.

    4 Choose an option menu

Click on Troubleshoot [or use up/down arrow keys then press return]

Click on Command prompt [or use up/down arrow keys then press return]

This is what it will look like.
    - Notice, for example, that it says the drive you are on is X:\ You will probably not have seen that before but it's OK.
    - Your other disk[s] might also have non-standard drive letters but that is also OK and they will revert to normal once you reboot later on.

You can now pick up the Enable ... Built-In Administrator account - TenForumsTutorials procedure at
    Option 5, Step 2.
    - This is the bit that I said would look daunting. But it does work.
    - At Step 5, you will need to browse around to find the normal Windows disk because it may not be C:\ [It will not be X:\ so don't even think of choosing that] so take a look at D then E … You will be looking for the disk that has a Windows folder AND a Users folder AND a PerfLogs folder.
    - If you get stuck then you can exit out of everything and post back to explain the problem [once again, photos will probably help clarify the nature of the problem even if you have to post them within a docx file as before].

Step 2 - Create one [or two] additional local admin accounts
Add Local Account ... - TenForumsTutorials
Change to Admin account type - TenForumsTutorials
Write down the passwords somewhere secure yet accessible.
    - I always create two additional admin accounts so I know one will always work even if the other becomes corrupt.

Step 3 - Log into one of the new admin accounts
    - This is just to test it & to use it for Step 4

Step 4 - Disable the built-in admin account [same tutorial as Step 1]
    ... Disable Built-In Administrator account - TenForumsTutorials
    - You can now use any of the Options to do this. Option 1 is probably simplest because you can just copy what you need from the tutorial.
    - You can now log out of the admin account and back into Bob or Linda.

From now on, whenever you need to carry out a function that requires admin status, you can enter the name & password of either of the new accounts you have just made.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

Will I select the "USB CD/DVD ROM Drive"?
If that's the entry shown then Yes.

Just a note, a Local Account user can have Administrative rights. One of my Notebooks:

Denis, I can't get to your Step 1.
I disabled Secure Boot and Saved F10.
    I entered Boot setup F9.
    Attachment 346332
None of the options boot to the DVD.

    Try UEFI boot sources
It sounds like a submenu to me and hopefully the DVD can be chosen there.

@Try3, hope you don't mind my suggestion, but maybe the DVD disk has to be in the Internal CD/DVD Rom Drive for the One Time Boot list to show it?

    Granny1943,

    Fabler's suggestion is worth checking.
1 Is the DVD in the DVD drive?
2 If you boot normally & use File explorer to look at the DVD, can you see contents? I'm not suggesting that you change anything, just check that your DVD drive can read the disk.

    Hello. Have you tried:
    Username: Administrator
Password: password, or nothing there at all, leave it blank.

There is no submenu for the UEFI Boot Sources. Nothing happens when I click on it.

The DVD shows up in the File Explorer as "DVD RW drive (d:) Windows 10 Home" and I can see the contents.

Maybe the dvd is simply bad. I have a Windows 10 disc coming to me today in the mail.

I thought that was the DVD we were talking about.

What DVD has today's conversation been about then?
    - Perhaps posting a screenshot of its contents will help explain what it is.
    - If you are using DVD±RW disks as backups then I will avoid nagging you about this until after the main job is done. So I am not going to complicate the conversation now by harping on about USB sticks & USB-connected external hard drives being far, far more reliable than any DVD±RW disk [as well as being cheaper most of the time].
