Denis, I'm about ready to tear my old grey hair out by the roots, lol. We got the Walmart DVD and can't get the HP computer to recognize it. And I can't get a photo to attach to this post. eeeeeeeeeehhh. Anyway, we can get to the BIOS screen and under Boot it has
    UEFI Boot Order:
    1. OS Boot Manager,
    2. Internal CD/DVD Rom Drive,
    3. USB Flash Drive/USB Hard Disk,
    4. USB CD/DVD ROM Drive, and
    5. Network Adapter with an exclamation mark in from of it.

We clicked on several and nothing happened. We made sure that we didn't save any of the changes.

What stops the photo from posting?
    - The normal procedure is to click on the editing toolbar's Insert image button

I'll probably be able to guide you in what to do.

I also expect to have to ask you to look around the Bios for an entry about "Secure boot" so you can turn that off. If its instructions are not clear then post a photo of that screen as well.

    All the best,

Often it's because the file size is too large for the site's upload limits. A photo has to be less than 2MB.

How to Upload and Post Screenshots and Files at Ten Forums

To shrink a photo, open it in MS Paint and click 'Resize'.

When you have shrunk it as much as you can get away with without making any text unreadable click File > Save as.. and save as a PNG picture. Do NOT just click 'Save' else you'll overwrite the original photo.

    Ideas -
1 In Paint, File menu, SaveAs - choose jpeg / jpg as such a file will be far smaller than a png file [ fewer KB/MB - same size of photo itself]
2 In Paint, Home tab, Select - run your cursor across & down to select the area of interest only [none of the blank space, just as if you had zoomed in more with the camera], then click on Crop and it will chop out everything outside the selected area - and then save that as jpg

Sorry, missed this post. Give me a few minutes to study the photos [and my last reply probably makes no sense - I thought what Bree had posted was by you]

    In

    Granny2 - Bios [configuration?] screen

look up a few lines above the UEFI bot order section to Secure boot then disable secure boot.
    - Somewhere in the bits I cannot see I will tell you to use the arrow up/down keys to move between entries so you can get to that Secure boot entry
    - It will also tell you how to select an entry to change it - possibly having to use the tab or the return/enter keys.

I have also experienced a Bios that seemed to give no response to attempts to change the sequence in the UEFI boot order section

But that's not the end of the world. When you were finding out which key got you in the Bios, you also found out which key got you to the "Boot options menu".
    - Once you have turned off Secure boot, leave the Bios and tell it to save your changes this time.
    - Restart the computer and keep tapping the "Boot options menu" key as soon as the computer maker's logo appears.
    - That should take you to a menu [that will look a bit like the UEFI boot order section but without the rest of the Bios being shown].
    - Use the up/down arrow keys to select the entry for the DVD then press whatever it tells you [probably just the return/enter key].

I should then boot from the DVD.

I am now going to put together & post the sequence of screens that I believe you will see as it boots from the DVD. You might have further questions first & that's fine but I think I should post them now in case everything else goes swimmingly and you are chaffing at the bit to get going.

Will I select the "USB CD/DVD ROM Drive"?
