You have 20H2. Therefore you need a 20H2 iso file. If you use the MS media creation tool that will give you 21H1, so if you wish to stay with 20H2, use the other options e.g. Heidoc iso downloader in the tutorial on downloading an iso file.

    Then (short form once again):
Rt click iso file, click Mount (available by default).
Open new drive letter created in f. explorer
    Double click setup.exe

I have no particular reason to stay with 20H2. I wasn't even able to try. So would it be better to just go with the newest version? I just need to get back into my regular local account.

It's entirely your choice... you have the simplified instructions to use an iso file to perform an in -place upgrade repair or install.

    No guarantees of course.

First off: Thank you for everyone's help!!!

I'm sorry to say that I chickened out. I panicked when I tried to get into my Microsoft Outlook from my local admin account and it wanted to begin from scratch. So I vaguely remembered that somewhere you could uninstall a feature update - so that is what I did. I am able to login to my regular local account again and my MS Outlook.

Of course, the original reason for the upgrade in the first place, is the problem of not being able to create a new file folder in file explorer. Any suggestions?

Most of all, I can't stay on version 1903 forever, so how do I proceed from here? Which version is best to upgrade to? And how can I have a better outcome?

I am truly humbled and thankful for this forum. I've used it since Win 8. Then finally ventured out to becoming a member and posting. Albeit, not often - my skill set for posting is zero. I constantly have to refer to your FAQs 'General Forum Usage' to get anything done, but I'm learning.

Now I guess I'll bite the bullet and try the 'Repair Install - TenForumsTutorials'. Honestly, this makes me a bit nervous. I've never done this before... Any other input before I begin?
There's no need to be nervous of a Repair install.

It's a big task [for the computer] so the updated system image was worthwhile but I have never had a Repair install mess my computer up.

About "BTW, how can I put the red links that show on others posts?"

I take it that you mean that hyperlinks are in red in your colour scheme.
    - Write the text you want for the name of the hyperlink [in one of mine it was Repair Install - TenForumsTutorials]
    - Select the text
    - Click on the hyperlink icon in the Editing toolbar Updated to Win 20H2 but can not sign in to my local account-editing-toolbar-hyperlink.png and write/paste in the hyperlink path then click on OK.

    - - You can also, if the hyperlink already appears in another online page, select all its text then paste it into your post like so - Repair Install - TenForumsTutorials
    - - You can also merely write or paste a hyperlink [such as https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html] and the forum software will do the best it can to give it a meaningful name [such as Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade]

    Best of luck,

Thank you. And, yes - with technology, absolutely nothing is guaranteed, other than headaches.

Also, I forget to look at the sidebar so I hadn't realized that you still use version 1903. So I'm not alone - maybe I don't need to upgrade after all. Can I do a repair install of 1903 to fix my folder problem? Or does it only work for newer versions? Can it be reversed like I just did with uninstalling the upgrade? If I've backed up with Macrium, could I restore it if it didn't work?

Thanks again. I seem to always have more questions.

You can upgrade to 21H1 assuming
    - no compatibility holds by MS
    - that it succeeds
    - that you are offered it by MS

    by
    - Windows Update
    - downloading the iso and using the instructions I gave you
Note that the instructions to start an upgrade or an upgrade repair install using an iso file are exactly the same
    - using the MS Update Assistant.

I use 1903 on 1 PC, whilst this one was upgraded to 20H2 from 1903, then to 21H1 - 2nd specs.Functionally, in terms of two things I used including Windows search the upgrade is a functional downgrade (i.e. MS improved it 'worse'!).

You already have instructions I've posted above you can use for an in-place upgrade repair install of 1903.

    I suggest that

1 You update to the latest Version after you have seen comments by others in the relevant TenForums News section. There's at least one thread for every new Version and people post their experiences there.

Features removed and deprecated in Windows 10 version 21H1 - TenForums

2 You update to the latest Version before it drops out of support & stops getting updates. That's generally 18 months after release.

3 You update to the latest "Cumulative update", the one on the second Tuesday of each month, after you have seen comments by others in the relevant TenForums News section. There's a thread for every new CU and people post their experiences there.
    KB5004237 CU - TenForums
There are similar threads in the News section for other updates such as the .Net framework, which also refers to its almost-monthly updates as 'Cumulative updates - KB5003537 Net CU - TenForums

Maybe now I should try it since I am able to login to my regular local account. I was afraid that if my login wasn't working correctly, that I'd lose the ability to ever log back into it completely.

I've always wondered what the purpose of having another user account as admin, when nothing in the account works. It doesn't oversee the whole computer setup, like I envisioned it. It didn't even recognize my outlook email - it just wanted to reset it up. Even the programs don't update on the admin side, even though I've updated them through my regular side. Things like that. I don't get it. Very frustrating. Although, I shouldn't complain. Having it did allow me to at least login to my computer. Better than not being able to access anything, anywhere.

Thank you very much for the BTW explanation! I tried copying/pasting, but I just couldn't get it to show correctly on the preview post screen. I look forward to using your way the next time.

All user accounts are independent except that an Admin account can give itself permission to access another user's folders & can alter other user accounts [create, delete, change passwords].

I have two spare, local, password-protected Admin accounts so I can be very confident of getting back into the computer if my normal account gets corrupted.
Create two spare local, password-protected Admin accounts [post #2] - TenForums

I only use my spare Admin accounts for troubleshooting so I do not set up any applications in them.

I am not sure where you are regarding the extra Admin account you refer to. Is that an Admin account you created or the Built-in Admin account? If the latter then create your own ones and disable the Built-in Admin.
    ... Disable Built-In Administrator account - TenForumsTutorials
    - The more you use an account, the more chances it has for its profile to get corrupted.
    - Apart from strokes of luck, accounts cannot be repaired once they are corrupted.

BTW The method of posting diagrams & small files is given in How to Upload and Post Screenshots and Files - TenForumsTutorials

    Welcome to TenForums.
It's really worth making time to browse through the Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every page.
    - At the foot of the Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
    - I download a new copy each month so I can benefit from Excel's filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
    - Tutorials are also listed by category at Tutorials - there's also a shortcut to that at the top of every page.
    - Both tutorial pages are searchable.
    - You can also search for TenForumsTutorials in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com/tutorials after your search term. For example,
    taskbar toolbars site:tenforums.com/tutorials

    - And note that you can also search TenForums threads [rather than just searching tutorials] in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com after your search term. For example,
Search for drivers by HardwareID site:tenforums.com
[This is what the search box in the top-right corner of TenForums webpages does automatically]
