    Forgotten Password

    Hi Guys,

    I have had to create a new account as I had forgotten my password and couldn't find anywhere to reset the password, am I missing something, is there a password reset link I have missed?

    Regards,

    Hi, for general guidance the huge tutorial section is often the first place to look.

    You are free to browse and search it as I have:

    Reset Password of User Account in Windows 10

    Hope that helps.

    Dave,

    dalchina is correct.

    In brief:-
    Reset Password of Local Account or Microsoft Account - TenForumsTutorials
    1 If it is an MSAccount-linked user account then straightforward reset procedures exist {Tutorial Options 3,4}
    2 If it is a local user account then it can only be reset by
    - Using the additional security questions that can be prompted for at sign-in assuming that any such questions had previously been set up {Tutorial Option 5}
    - A Password reset disk assuming that a Password reset disk had previously been set up [and it is no better, yet a lot more expensive, than writing the password down on a piece of paper, which is what I do] {Tutorial Option 1}
    - Another Admin account on the same computer {Tutorial Option 2 or by using the appropriate command prompt commands in an elevated command prompt to change the password}
    - Enabling the Built-in Admin account at boot in order to use it to change the password
    From your description of the problem, I think the emboldened line is the most appropriate course of action for you.Then do write the password down somewhere secure yet accessible.

    Welcome to TenForums.

    It's really worth making time to browse through the Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every page.
    - At the foot of the Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
    - I download a new copy each month so I can benefit from Excel's filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
    - Tutorials are also listed by category at Tutorials - there's also a shortcut to that at the top of every page.
    - Both tutorial pages are searchable.
    - You can also search for TenForumsTutorials in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com/tutorials after your search term. For example,
    taskbar toolbars site:tenforums.com/tutorials

    - And note that you can also search TenForums threads [rather than just searching tutorials] in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com after your search term. For example,
    Search for drivers by HardwareID site:tenforums.com
    [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of TenForums webpages does automatically]

    Hi Guys, thanks for the reply but the reset password issue was for Windows Forums not for Windows itself.

    My apologies for my dumbness, I will endeavour to be more specific in future. So, is there a password reset for the forum login?
