    Smart Card login accounts?

Are Smart Card logins to authenticate to login into Windows considered a Local User account or is it still a Domain User account?

Supposed a user gets provided a CAC or a PIV card to insert to their Smart Card reader to authenticate or logon to their Windows account, is it a Local Account that they use or a Domain account?

A User can set up a card or key that plugs in but if a card such as SDHC or USB Thumb drive is provided to them such as by a company it logs into the Domain or Network Server it is associated with. There is a feature in User Accounts for creating a password reset disk, that is only for the User on that computer.
