    windows 10 fingerprint sign-in suddenly unavailable


    my fingerprint sign-in worked on my pc laptop for one year. now inexplicably it has stopped. in 'settings' it advises 'fingerprint sign-in option unavailable'. how do i get it back?

    Hi, make and model of laptop please - see 'My Computer' under my post for comparison.
    (Tutorials are available to help you complete your specifications - in the Tutorial section).

    Also approx age, and please post the URL for its driver downloads.

    Please post a screenshot of your Update History - have you had an update recently? Also look at drivers at the bottom.

    Turning to your device manager. Please post a screenshot like this:

    now inexplicably it has stopped.
    Have you checked your Device Manager - is the driver installed correctly (the above screenshot will tell us).

    Have you tried using a System Restore point?

    thx for your thorough answer. i've tried some of the suggestions & traced the fingerprint option negation back to an update. i'm all set, thx.

    - could you advise which one?

    If receiving via Windows Update, you will most likely get that again, so would need to block it.
