Different Display Name vs Profile Name - Possible?

So, obviously with AD you can set someone's logon name to be first.last, but have their displayed name be Last, First. How to go about doing this on a stand-alone Win 10 Pro not on a domain or workgroup. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Are you talking about something like this? . . .

    > How to Add or Remove Aliases for your Microsoft Account
    > How to Change the Primary Alias for your Microsoft Account
    > How to Change Sign-in Preferences of your Microsoft Account Aliases

    I hope this helps.

no, for local user accounts. its for windows 10 pro in a workplace environment but they do not run a server... i want to locally create a user account that shows as (example) C:\Users\doej (last name first initial) but when they log onto windows shows John Doe or something similar...

according to this, i should be able to name the user, then go into control panel and change the name without it automatically changing the C:\Users (which i want to stay another format for cmd, etc.). I'll test it and keep an eye here for any other ideas. Thanks.

    Update:

So, despite it being a pain to do.. you can create the account with the naming convention that you want - ie - doej would show up as C:\Users\doej
After this, log into said new user account
Log out of said new user account
Log into Admin account and go to Control Panel and rename doej to John Doe
the path remains unchanged, as C:\Users\doej, but displays John Doe on the sign-in screen

1 Make a system image before doing this.

2 Create the local user doej
3 Change the user name to John Doe

That will change how the username is presented to you without changing the profile name itself.

I do not understand what benefit this achieves.
