I have a corrupt profile after a windows update. Can I repair advice?
First of all, I would like to see if people can check out this thread:https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...4-c18acc9328ae
There is quite a long discussion there. I am trying to get help. I want to back up a lot of data, then try to repair my profile. I was told to go to the command prompt using a bootable media. However, it seems to give me only two options: 1) a dvd, or 2) a USB drive. I do not think that I can do that. I do not have any DVDs available, and I only have external hard drives. I would like to see if those are an option from command prompt. I do not see why not if notepad allows me to explore windows. But I would like to make sure. I am not wanting to boot from those, but I want to copy to them. It has not been made clear to me if it will actually override the read-only error that has occurred due to updating windows. Also, I am aware that I have updates waiting due to being in a metered connection. I also am waiting to restore itunes backups, and due to the corrupt profile, all of the songs have been moved.
