Windows 10 User folder taking up 100GB+

Granted I only have one user account on my computer, but the entire size of my User folder is 2.04GB.
And the 5 folders IN my User folder add up to 2.93GB.

The size of a user profile depends on what apps, software, and amount of files installed, as well as user configuration and thus can vary greatly. Mine is 75gig...



A hibernation file can file can take up a lot of space, your System Protection (Restore Point) settings can increase or decrease storage usage. Windows updates can increase storage usage. You just need to look at these things.

One way to get rid of unneeded files is through Disk Cleanup. Open, chose the drive and click "Clean up system files". This will also remove the windows.old file which does eat a lot of space if there. The windows.old file is created whenever an new OS upgrade is performed... i.e. upgrading from 1903 to 2004. Again, lots of way a user file can grow, and also storage get eaten as well.

On my Z170 my User folder is 5.92 GB

I would suggest using an app like Treesize Free or WinDirStat and run as admin, sort by size, to get a view of where the space is being used (including normally hidden files). You can then decide if you need to uninstall apps/ games and/ or clean up old driver packages, Windows updates, crash dumps etc.

Yes, do what Pejole suggests. Treesize (free) is a reliable way of finding out where, within your user folders, the space is being used.

- At least, for the time being, fill in the model number and OS lines.

By the way, you will often be asked for the Version or Build number of Windows 10.
- Right-click on the Start button
- Select Run
- In it, enter winver and a dialog box appears
- In your specs OS line, enter everything in the line beginning Version and anything else you want such as Home Edition [the Edition is stated in the paragraph underneath the Version line, mine is Home].
- Here's my winver dialog

- Version [mine is 20H2] refers to the latest half-yearly update "Feature update"
- Build number is in two parts - the 19042 also refers to the latest half-yearly update "Feature update" whereas the .868 shows the latest monthly "Cumulative update" I have installed.

I update my specs [OS line only] every month by updating the Version & Build numbers I've entered in that line. They show up in the block on the left of each one of my posts two lines above the Union Jack.

Naturally, it is entirely up to you but having all that info right there stops people having to ask me about it when I request assistance here which avoids delaying any useful guidance people might want to post.
