    Fingerprint cannot be registered

Hello, since 2 days ago - Me, my father and my friends are complaining that we can't bypass windows 10 login page with fingerprint, like the sensor isn't recognizing our fingerprint anymore.
My father realised that HE CAN bypass by changing login method to PIN and then even when he's on the PIN login screen and then he put his finger on the fingerprint reader - THEN IT WORK which is so so weird.
Why does it happen? Is it the March Windows Update that cause that problem?

Also, my friend thought that removing the fingerprint completely and then register all over again would be a good idea, Unfortunetly Windows Hello DOES NOT recognize the finger no matter how many times, positions and angles he tries, it just doesn't work for him.

I would be glad for some eye opening on the situation, is it possible that the issue occur to only 3 people? I don't think so.
What are the solutions? what can we do?
All of us are running Windows 10 20H2.
    Thanks in advance,
    Daniel.

Hi, there is, as you've noticed, a relationship between using a PIN and a fingerprint for biometric authentication.

    See this tenforums tutorial:
Add or Remove Fingerprint for Account in Windows 10

    Note the last sentence:

    1
Open the Settings app, and click/tap on the Accounts icon.

    2
Click/tap on Sign-in options on the left side, click/tap on Windows Hello Fingerprint on the right side, and click/tap on the Set up button. (see screenshot below)
If you have not already, it is required to have a PIN for your account before you can setup a Windows Hello fingerprint.

I agree but it works also on the regular password screen aswell which means the fingerprint works on all login options EXCEPT the fingerprint login windows(I mean that by going to another login method and then use my fingerprint - it works)...
Why it doesn't recognize my fingerprint when I'm on the fingerprint login screen?
Why it does recognize my finger when I'm on all others..?

What is the solution for this?
I don't want to remove the fingerprint and try to register a new ones because when my friend did it - It just stopped recognizing the finger on the register process..

Click/tap on Sign-in options on the left side, click/tap on Windows Hello Fingerprint on the right side, and click/tap on the Set up button. (see screenshot below)
I know how to setup a new fingerprint XDD I just said that my friend's laptop doesn't even recognize the finger, no matter how many times he puts his finger on the sensor, the sensor doesn't recognize the finger..

    So we have 2 problems:
    1. Can't access login page directly via Fingerprint option, Only with all other methods and then pressing on the fingerprint sensor will work.
    2. Can't register new fingerprint which means there is an issue with the driver itself but that is not making sense since 3 people have hardware/driver corrupt at the same time? it seems like a Windows Update cause this isse.

    Hello, since 2 days ago
    You could..
    - try uninstalling the update (which was it?) - see your Update History.
    - use a System Restore point (if you have one).

Once you know that you can research it- e.g. in the News section where there is a thread per update per build with issues, download links and comments following.

You've not given details of the PC to which this applies. Do you mean the Lenovo (which) desktop? - with an external reader?
Or do you perhaps mean a laptop?

Thought about that but there are too many updates and I can't know which one had the effect on my fingerprint.
Moreover, I believe that Me, my Father and my Friend have different updates that Windows installed so that's messy.

    - use a System Restore point (if you have one).
Unfortunately, My laptop have restore point from 1 year ago, many changes and data changed since then :/

Will definitely check it out for sure, thanks!

Why Microsoft not announcing anything about that, or at least give us another update that fix it?
I read that many websites says that March Update cause many operation system failure...

20H2 has caused problems for some people. (See the News section and general reports)

Illustration: I was on 1903. 1909 in its early releases broke Windows search especially from file explorer. They kept on changing that into 2004, as well as changing Cortana's role. I tried 1909 early on- and immediately rolled back as it wasn't fit for purpose.

I've stayed with 1903 - for a software compatibility reason too. I've not had problems.

Keeping up with the 'latest update' isn't always the wisest thing to do.

    Searching for 20H2 fingerprint
shows a number of reports of no fingerprint driver, which is not your case - please confirm (see Device Manager).

My comment, I have a fine HP Notebook from about 10 years ago, when Win10 was first released it couldn't deal with the fingerprint sensor on the Notebook. I think that even if suitable drivers are installed the issue is in the sequence Windows loads drivers, sometimes not making them available in a timely fashion and the process fails.

There are some notebooks with fingerprint sensors for which there isn't an appropriate Win 10 driver.. mine (ex Win-8) happens to be ok.. not that I use it regularly.
