You don't need to copy anything.

    Simply go to:
    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Windows PowerShell

Here copy shortcut to your desired location and it should work?
As I've indicated above, I've already made the copies of the shortcuts, and they work fine. That's not the issue.

Thanks, but I'm already familiar with these processes. The questions that I asked in my original post remain, with the crucial clarification that I'm talking about the shortcuts folder.

It is because this shortcut is valid only for the user account from which it was copied.
To reuse it on another user account you need edit security properties of this shortcut.
@Paul Black gave you steps on how to do this.

ofc. you likely need to the same for all parent folders, ex. to prevent inheritance of dead principals.

I don't know why you've said this, as there's no other user account involved here, unless you're talking about the Owner in "Advanced Security Settings"/Permissions.

I'm prevented by Windows from altering any permissions, unless of course I take ownership, and that is one of the two points that I asked about in my original post.

Yes, you first need to take ownership, set it to your windows account.

This only allows you set permissions (not to actually move folders).
Once you take ownership, set your user account to have "Full permissions" on entry tree of folders and shortcuts that you made.

This applies only to folders and shortcuts that you made or copied, not system folders and files.

Right, but I'm looking for opinions on the question that I posed in my original post, which was: Is it a bad idea to delete the original "Windows PowerShell" shortcuts folder, which has those special permissions entries and the TrustedInstaller as the Owner?

To be clear, I'm inclined to take ownership and delete this folder, but I thought I'd ask the question, seeing as how the folder has those special permissions attached to it.

You are making routine backups of the OS partitions and data partition[s] onto external media, correct?

    Yes, thanks.

OK, so I just took ownership, and then deleted the pesky folder. Again, my concern was that the special permissions and special Owner (TrustedInstaller) might have some significance for the security or functionality of PowerShell.

Thanks for the replies, and sorry that I muddied the waters by not saying right from the start that I was talking about a shortcuts folder.
