Windows Hello can't find camera, prevents options from being shown

I got a new laptop and everything works great except Windows Hello, it won't find the camera and or show certain options in the settings and requires me to use a PIN all the time instead of a fingerprint or nothing...I've tried a few solutions of the many out there but nothing has worked so far.

Hi, Windows Hello requires a camera that meets quite tight requirements which are, unfortunately not very clearly stated.

I would consult your manufacturer as to its compatibility with Hello.

Ok thanks it looks like maybe mine (Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 8) is not compatible...that's ok I was actually more annoyed with the inability to change the options in the settings (under "Require Sign-in") if you have any insight on that.

    Have you configured your fingerprint?

Remember too that having set a PIN, you must still remember or record your password- still needed in some cases.

Thanks, I have fingerprint set up (that and the PIN are what I use to login, although I'd like to log in less frequently and not have to enter the PIN as often relative to the fingerprint.

Have you looked at the link in my last post?

I'd like to log in less frequently
    - for example in which circumstances?

E.g. There are tutorials to help with
    - logging in automatically
    - no password/pin on resuming

I did look at it; I'm a little leery about messing around with the command interface but if the problem continues I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

Command prompt? Which part are you looking at? I was thinking of your red error message in this instance.

I've copied the text from it for you: it gives one explanation for the red text message:

The Require sign-in option will only be available if the account has a password.

If the Require sign-in setting is grayed out with a Windows hello is preventing some options from being shown message, it means it is not possible to change the Require sign-in setting while Windows Hello (ex: face) is enabled since it is assumed you want to use Windows Hello to sign in every time.
    - however I'm not sure it entirely fits your case. Now I look at it again, I have a PIN set, and no such message.

This explanation, however, may relate to your camera driver:

I was referring to part 4 of the link you sent (just turning off the request for login altogether; I don't mind just touching the finger reader but dislike always entering the PIN.

Thanks for the second link; that was one of the things I tried already (Removing Hello and reeestablishing it).
