    Sign In to Windows 10

I use a Microsoft password to sign in to windows 10.
Currently it will not accept that password. I have a dual setup with a different password and when I am in that window and go to a Microsoft app that requires a password and use that same password, that Sign in will not recognize, it now works just fine.
The problem Sign in for Windows 10 indicates that my PIN will not be recognized either.
The only option offered is to use the Microsoft Password Reset Wizard which I do not have. It does not offer the usual option to reset the password. Obviously, something went wrong and I need help to get back to my main use window.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you for the response.
Love the link, thanks for that
Sorry, but i can not use it until I can get into the main window.
The problem is the Sign In, that is requesting a password, different than what I normally use and works elsewhere.
I do not know why I get the Password Reset Wizard as my only option. Never setup that Wizard.
Normally as I recall, if you can't get in after a number of times, you get to change the password. Not getting that as an option.

Hopefully someone will understand your scenario - I can't I'm afraid.

More generally, if this has just recently happened and is a problem with your PC rather than anything else, you could try System Restore by booting your PC from a Win 10 install disk, via 'Repair your computer' to Advanced Startup options and see if you can start that successfully.

That's assuming you have a valid System Restore point available of course.

If you can boot to the login screen, you could also use SHIFT + left click the Restart option from the Power button to the bottom left of the screen to boot to the Advanced Startup options.

    Hello cyclone3211,

Just to verify, are you able to use option 4 or 5 in the tutorial below to reset you password on the sign-in screen depending on if this is for a local account or Microsoft account?

I will do this in the future, but I can not get into the main window and can not get to the Control Panel.
Don't why this Wizard came up in the first place since it never happened before. As stated, there is nothing wrong with my password, it is just not being recognized by the windows sign in .
Thanks for the suggestion, which after this, I will make an attempt to do just that for the future
I do not get that Recovery of Password screen. Just get that Pass Word Reset Wizard screen.
Is there a way to get around that Wizard Reset so I can get to the Recovery Screen?
I can't seem to get another option than that Wizard Reset.

System Restore? (See my previous post).

Recovery screen? Do you mean the Advanced Startup Options?

    I don't understand your description.

1 How many user accounts are on the computer?
    2 Which are Admin ones?
3 Which are local user accounts and which are MSAccount-linked ones?
    4 Which have passwords?
5 Which have you set up PINs for?

    Account Account 1 Account 2 Account 3 Account 4 Account 5
    Admin/Std?
    Local/MSAccount?
    Password?
    PIN?

There are two accounts on the computer and both are Admin, have different passwords, and the same pin.
I have two accounts and one is for my desktop and the other is for my cellphone. This was created to keep the emails separate. Both are on the desktop so that I can read the cellphone emails on the desktop.
For some reason they both have Microsoft and Google addresses. Should of only setup one to be the main for the sign in but it was not causing an issue until now were the main doesn’t recognize the cell phone password.
Currently, the cell phone email is the only one that I can use to get to my main window. Had a problem with a program and the Tech helper had me setup the second window to reinstall that program. Doing that second install made the program work.
Now when I use the desktop email to opens the second window only. This has been happening since the last major update and the switch hasn’t worked as it did before. .Have not been using the second window at all now.
The only window that is being used is the main and that is the one that I cannot get back into.

    - - - Updated - - -

I followed the instructions to due a reset with files & programs. For each of my address that were listed, neither accepted my password. Therefore, could not sign-in as an Admin. Rebooted.

Tried netplwiz which normally was used to skip the sign-in. I discovered that it also allowed you to change your password.

Since neither of my passwords worked prior, I used this method to make a password. Actually, just reused my prior passwords which were not working . After doing this, went back to the sign-in and tried the passwords that I created through the reusing what I had before and enter as they were new ones.

SOLVED. That worked and I was back into my main window. Thank you for all of your suggestions which guided me to try the auto login routine.
