    (Solved)how to get rid of old admin prevents me from doing anything


    Hello I have a Dell Inspiron 1553 laptop running Windows 10 Home version 1909 that was given to me by my uncle who didn't delete his admin account and every time I try to install a program or mess with any settings or change user account settings I get a popup wanting my uncles PIN. I have had no luck in getting ahold of my uncle to get this PIN. Is there any way to bypass this PIN or delete his admin account totally. I have tried to reset it but it asks for his PIN, it wont even let me install the tool for downloading the Windows 10 ISO. I was thinking of trying a windows password recovery software but am not sure how to go about doing this. Could I download the ISO from the web and make a bootable USB and reinstall windows 10 and just start over. Any help will be appreciated.

    Yes, you can start all over and reinstall from scratch.

    Make a Windows Install USB using the MCT, boot from it, and install Windows clean if you don't mind losing all your apps and files. Back up all your important files first.

    If you have another working PC, install Macrium Reflect on it, Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect, make a MR Rescue USB, boot from it on this uncle laptop, and make a MR backup of the boot drive before you wipe out the current Windows. This gives you the option to restore back to what's on the laptop now and you can also get files out of the back image if you forgot something.

    While I would do a clean install of Windows 10, there is also option 5 here to enable the built-in administrator account that you could get into to then make your own user account an administrator:

    Numerous computer fixit places have PC Unlocker and/or Hiren's Boot available from The 'Net. I had to do likewise to clear out a forgotten/embedded password.

    I ended up booting into windows recovery and did a reset deleting all files.
