Locked out of Outlook Account

For some reason I was locked out of my outlook account?!! I do not use this account often and mainly for friends only.

Now trying to get the unlock code via phone number, which is the only option given is a bad jock as we all know, looking at Microsoft community nobody seems to ever get "the code". I have an alias e-mail attached to this account but I'm unable to use it to get the code.

Appreciate any help.

I'm on Windows 10 20H2 (Build 19042.685)
No third party AV, Windows Security only.
Using Windows mail.

Did you set up an alternative email address as well as a phone number?

I did, but there is no option to choose sending the code to this address.

You can use any mobile phone number:

Unlocking your account

To unlock your account, you must enter a security code you receive via text message from Microsoft. The phone number you use to receive this text message doesn't need to be associated with your account. It doesn't even need to be your own phone number. If your phone doesn't receive text messages, ask a friend or family member if you can use theirs.
