Multi PC replacement scenario -> user data and user profile migration

We're planning to replace appr. 500 Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 10 PC's with new ones.
The new PC's are delivered with Windows 10 and Office preinstalled and will be joined to our domain.

Our goal is to transfer all their data, favorites, mail account settings etc, transferred over in some standardized way that does not take too much time.
At the same time we hope not to disturb our users too much..
Basically what we need is to give our users as transparent a transition as possible, saving us too much follow-up support.

I gather we are not the first to be in this situation and any suggestions on how to go about this are much appreciated.

However, expensive $100.000 OneDrive/Office 365 solutions are not an option.
We're an NP org on a low key simple MS sponsored Domain setup.

    Again -
    Thank you for any suggestions.

    Hi,

This topic interests me, I wait to see what recommendations they give to test them since I continually have to copy profiles, I know a third-party application Transwiz, in two versions, Personal Edition and Professional Edition.

    Hola,

Whilst I know nothing about this myself, I saw an interesting discussion in this forum about the subject a little while ago. These are the links I thought worth saving -
How to move User data - move user, when reloading or replacing a PC - TenForums
User State Migration Tool (USMT) Overview Topics Microsoft Docs
    USMTGUI - EhlerTech

As you'll see in the TenForums discussion, the tool that does the work is the [MS] USMT and the job is made more straightforward by using the USMTGUI utility to control it.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

Definitely go with USMT as it is the only MS supported way

    Hi Rafael

I'd definitely go for MS USMT (User State Migration Tool) which is free, as it is part of the Windows ADK.

We use User Profile Central (UPC) from EhlerTech to run and monitor USMT. UPC simply installs on a technicians PC and the tech can backup and restore user profiles, data, favorites, mail account settings etc., over the local network to/from a share and without interfering with the user.

We just take a backup while the user still work and then restore it to the New PC.

Also UPC comes with a bunch of valuable updated USMT xml files.

In my opinion UPC is the single most time saving tool I have ever used.
