What is Microsoft doing about this? I just got the 45 minute long Windows 10 upgrade that Microsoft pushed and now I am getting this issue...not getting login screen. It seems to have mind of its own though. Sometimes pressing Windows and < key seems to work, sometimes pressing CTRL seems to work. Has Microsoft provided any patch fix? This is extremely frustrating and is now impacting our productivity.
+1 on uninstalling HP SimplePass. If you have an HP laptop with a fingerprint reader, I would bet that SimplePass is responsible for the disappearing password prompt on the login screen. The problem happened to me after installing the Creator update today. Thanks for posting the fix!
Same issue I'm on creators update... I held shift while I held the power key ...wasnt sure how to proceed so I let go of the power key after about 15 secs and kept the shift key held down... Came back up and viola ! login screen back...no idea why.. going to snoop around in my logs to see if I can I'd anything if I do I'll post...for now give that a try guys maybe it will help.
If you can go into safe mode, run system configuration and select Normal startup under General (that worked for me) or go under Services and click Enable all (if you're fancy disable the ones you don't need).
If you can't go into Safe mode, hold the external power button until your computer shuts off, and then press it so that your computer turns on. Repeat the process two more times. On the third time that your computer turns on, there should be a loading screen that says Starting Automatic Repair, and then Diagnosing your PC. After that, there should be a blue screen giving you the option of whether to restart your computer or going to Advanced options. Click on Advanced options, Troubleshoot, Advanced options, Startup Settings, and then Restart. There, you can press 4 on your keyboard for Safe mode, 5 for Safe mode with Networking, or 6 to enable Safe mode with Command Prompt.
Hope I helped!
I'm unable to login to my account since it does not prompt to enter the password, the icon to shutdown the computer is missing. I have tried to forced my computer to do automatic repair then, the windows defender appears to do a quick scan. Afterwards, the option to click on troubleshoot to access safe mode is nowhere to be found, a blank blue window with no options to click on is the one i see, after a few seconds it rebooted, same issue, login loop with no box to enter the pass.
If reinstalling windows 10 is the only solution then, I don't mind loosing every files, tons of games, apps. However, loosing the Activation Code from for windows 10 is what I am afraid of.
Please help.
Found this solution by luck. Bring your mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen, your wifi icon level. Click and keep pushing your mouse primary button. With the mouse button being pushed, pull up the mouse. Like peeling a layer off from your screen. And there is you password prompt. At least it worked for us like this on Win10 Pro 10.0.15063 Build 15063.
I'm having this problem. Can't login because the screen is not there to login. But I also have another issue too. I hold shift to access the advanced settings, and the only option that shows up is "shut off your PC". None of the other options are present. What do I do now?
Try hitting F8 Key
It brought up the "Lost " Window I needed to Log in !
TYL !
