Denied right to save to any folder but I am the Admin

Recently I am unable to save any files , or delete them, as Win10 says I require Administrator privileges . I am logged in as the Administrator . When I attempt to change the security level for a folder, Windows tells me that I can't change the levels, can't share or unshare . I used Windows again today to make sure I am logged in and using the correct account.

I have read the tutorial on this but still a bit puzzled.

    Win 10 version 10.0.18363.1198

    Andy,

Unless you are referring to protected folders [such as, but not limited to, C:\Progam files] then this is a fault.

1 Which folders is this happening with?

2 Test your account is recognised as an Admin one - right-click on the Start button & click on PowerShell (Admin) [or, if you've changed your setup to alter which one appears, click on Command prompt (Admin)].

2.1 Do you get this dialog appearing so that you can just click on the Yes button to give yourself permission to proceed? This means your user account is recognised as an Admin one.
2.2 If the dialog looks the same but has a missing or non-functioning Yes button then there is an account fault. I can give you a link to the procedure for fixing this fault.
2.3 If there is a password entry box before you can click on the Yes button then your account is not recognised as an Admin one.

There is a difference between having an Administrator account, and ownership of a file or folder.

For example, if System or Trusted Installer owns the file or folder, you would not able to change it, unless you changed the owner.
