After updating to the current Windows version (20H2 (OS Build 19042.572), uninstalling Norton Online Security (using the Norton uninstall tool) and now using Windows Defender ... Windows Fingerprint Scanner does not work. This is the screenshot of the issue:

Sounds like an issue with the biometrics driver. To check, right-click on Start and choose Device Manager. If you see an exclamation mark against the Biometric devices entry then do this:
1. Right-click on the device and choose Uninstall device.
2. In the Action menu, select Scan for hardware changes.
If all goes well then this should reload the device driver for the fingerprint reader. If the driver is not reloaded then you'll need to download the driver again. Check the model but I think the one you need is this Validity Fingerprint Sensor Driver.
