Fingerprint sensor option removed after latest windows update

I have found that after the latest Window Update, I no longer have the option of logging in to Windows 'Hello' by using the fingerprint sensor OR my windows password, but only the PIN. Since my laptop does in fact have a fingerprint sensor, I'd at least like to have the possibility of using it. At first I thought this might be due to an outdated driver (there is in fact a newer Biometric driver available, but I cannot install it), but I am convinced that this is a Windows issue. I don't want to have to do a system restore to fix it, as that is always only a temporary solution.

In some cases as you say the problem is driver related - please confirm there was no change in the driver (see Device Manager).

If Spunk's post doesn't help and there is no fix found, It would be worth confirming System Restore restores the function (you could then block the update).

Here's the article for your most recent update in the News section.
    KB4571756 Cumulative Update Windows 10 v2004 build 19041.508 - Sept. 8

Note- seems possibly a common or frequent issue with 2004: here you can see some things that didn't help:

You may need a driver specifically compatible with 2004 - check your PC's driver downloads: HP example:

Thanks to all for your input.

I've managed to solve the problem. Turns out that it was simply a question of resetting my sign-in preferences for 'Windows Hello' after the most recent update.
