How to name a new Admin and delete or change existing passwords.

If this thread is in the wrong place, feel free to move it.

I plan to give my old computer to my grandson. How do I erase the passwords, and how do I change the Administrator's name?

    Thank you,

The simplest way would be to create a new local user account and make it an administrator. Depending on the age of your grandson, if he's old to take responsibility for looking after the PC you could give this new account his name. If you feel he is too young then use this account for maintaining the PC and also create a standard user account for his daily use.

Make very sure you have made the account an administrator. It is vital that at all times there must be at least one administrator account available. Then you can sign in to this new administrator account and delete your old account and all its user data.

I read several other answers like this. I have no interest in creating a Microsoft account so they can invade my privacy even more. Can it be done without doing that?

First, they can invade your privacy whether or not you have a Microsoft Account. They use fingerprinting to determine who you are anyways.

Regardless, the first link specifically shows you how to create a local account, apparently you didn't even bother to read the advice you were given.

I specifically said create a LOCAL account, not a Microsoft account. That is Option One in the tutorial.

I think I'm on my way to solving this. Thanks for the responses. One more question. How do I delete a user account? Or change the name? I am the Administrator.

See this tutorial: Delete User Account in Windows 10

...Or change the name? I am the Administrator.
You can easily change the name of an account, but that just changes the name shown on the sign in screen. It does not change the name of the account's user profile folder in C:\Users. To change that as well is possible but difficult, it requires editing the registry. It's far easier and quicker to create a new account in the name you want to use then delete the old one.

I'm still having trouble with this. I have read the tutorials in everyone's posts, and I'm not sure I communicated what I am trying to do, correctly.

I'm attaching a screen shot of my PC screen when I first turn on the PC, and shots of the next THREE screens I have to go through each time I power on. This only has happened since I Restored a Macrium Reflect Image when I got a new PC.

I never got these two names on the screen as options for sign in, previously. They are both my name as indicated by the red arrows. The sign in with my picture is the one I have used for years. Suddenly this second option pops up, and it is not in my User Accounts. I'm thinking the picture one is me as Admin, and the other one is with my MS Account.

How do I get rid of the double sign names?

One week since I posted the latest question, and not one answer. Does anyone know how to solve this? I go in to settings, and select Accounts, Users, etc. I cannot find any option to 1. Change Administrator 2. Rename Administrator. 3. Delete local account.

    Help, please.
