Force Windows to start logging in before password is entered

Windows will sometimes start logging me in behind the lock screen when I first boot my computer, then the computer is ready to go once I enter my password. This is really convenient, but it sometimes doesn't do this. Is there any way I can force Windows to ALWAYS do this? I still want the lock screen to show up and require my password, but I want Windows to log me in in the background anyway 100% of the time.

    I'm on Windows 10 Education, version 2004.

EDIT: The solution seems to be enabling the option from the accepted answer to this SuperUser question.

What you may be seeing is the system wide processes that are running and doing scheduled jobs and other tasks getting the system all ready for a User to sign on. To my knowledge, it is not possible to signon to the system before your credentials have been verified, that taking place after you have entered your password. I don't believe the Education version would act any differently, but not having it, I cannot say that for 100% sure.

My work laptop boots automatically every morning (I have the BIOS set to do that), and when I enter my password five minutes later it opens immediately to all of my programs. I am in fact being fully logged in without entering my password, but I still need to enter my password to get to anything.

My personal desktop used to do the same thing, but it no longer does. I would like to force it do that if I can.

I hear and see what you are saying, but I have never heard of any Windows system that will fully log you in with verifying who you are.

    Maybe someone else has. Sorry.........

I have one that does that but only if I don't fully shut down. It will also go to screen saver and not need login to come back but if I Lock the computer always need the password.

That's possible. Fits OP saying "they're all open".

I thought about that, Berton. There is often a difference of interpretation when someone says "I shut it down". To my wife, it's close the lappy cover and walk away. So Sleep/Hibernate vs hard power shutdown could explain the PW issue.

I fully shut down my computer every night, and I have the hybrid/fast startup stuff completely disabled because it caused issues for me in the past.

No, this is not what I'm referring to, I have that setting disabled because it's annoying. My computer is logging in like normal when I first boot, but I have to enter my password to actually get to my desktop and use it.

I guess I can put it this way. When Windows does not do this, after entering your password, there's a slight delay before it actually switches to your desktop and starts opening programs and whatnot. That's not what's happening. When this happens, I enter my password and am immediately taken to my desktop, and because the computer booted 5 minutes ago all of my programs are already available. The experience is exactly the same as if I logged in like normal 5 minutes ago, then hit Windows+L to lock the computer, and I've now come back to use it for real. There is no difference whatsoever.
