    Need Access to User Account

    Hello Everyone --

Okay...this is long and convoluted, but maybe someone out there knows a solution. My apologies for the length of this post.

A few days ago, Explorer began refeshing over and over on User "Acct A." In the beginning it was about every 7-10 seconds. It is now down to about 5 seconds IF I don't attempt to do anything. So attempting any further solution while logged into "Acct A" has become pretty much impossible. Prior to this, I landed on a site that listed several things known [to create the issue?], and tried some of the solutions.

Some alleviated the problem by uninstalling programs (like Silverlight, or anti-virus); some by changing certain settings or permissions; some by running SFC and DISM scans. I was able to finally get to the list of Startup items, and even disabled everything. Nothing worked though, until I tried the one thing that I could not wrap my head around - creating another user account. While I was unable to actually create another one (because of the constant refreshing), I DID already have one that I created some months back (that's another story...LOL). I logged into that account and wouldn't ya know... Explorer was doing just fine and dandy. So I am assuming at this point, that whatever has Explorer acting stupid on "Acct A," is contained in that account, and does not or will not affect "Acct B."

Now, one would think that since I have regained the use of my computer, I should be happy. I would be except for one thing - I have two cheatsheets of usernames and passwords on Acct A that I cannot get to from Acct B. I NEED those cheatsheets. I cannot get logged into ANYthing 'cause I create passwords that only someone with a photographic memory could remember! I had to create a new TenForums account just for this issue, and lucky enough to have a table with one of my email addresses linked to it. I would like to have my browser bookmarks and my email client too...but I can start over with my bookmarks, and I can get to my email via the Gmail and Yahoo webistes, and re-set up the popping of my email to Thunderbird. But I NEED those spreadsheets! To possibly exacerbate this issue, those spreadsheets are locked into a program called "Protected Folder."

I can go into the "Protected Folder" program folder and launch the program from there. I can even log into the program and see those spreadsheets listed, but I cannot unlock and open them - not from Acct B.

So, is there a way, to gain access to EVERYthing in Acct A, from Acct B? In other words, can it be fixed so that no matter which user account I log into, I would have all the same access to everything with all the same settings, preferences, etc.?

    Thanks
MS Windows 10 Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.900)

" I had to create a new TenForums account just for this issue, and lucky enough to have a table with one of my email addresses linked to it."

For this part, you could have simply followed the "Forgot Password" trail, and had a reset emailed to a valid email account owned by you associated with the Tenforums account.

What was your Member ID you didn't have the PW for? Maybe the Admins can still help you with that part.

You say they are spreadsheets, so I assume Office Excel or the equivalence. If you had enough time to create account "B" before Explorer gave you trouble, why not try to get the spreadsheets before it gives you trouble. It's obvious the machine is not locked up.

Thank you for your reply. I never thought of the "forgot password" route. By the time I came here, I'd about had it. But to be honest, "forgot password" would have been of little use though since I couldn't even remember my username. I think I've been to TenForums all of about a dozen times - and I don't remember when the last time was.

The issue with Explorer refreshing had already begun. When I learned about creating another user account, I was unable to precisely because of the refreshing. I did, however, have another user account and logged into it.

Since creating this thread, I've calmed down considerably...LOL. I finally got to those spreadsheets. So, after the dust settles with this issue...I believe I'll ask about merging the two accounts if that's possible here - I dunno if all boards have that capability or not.

But back to the issue. Also since creating this thread, I thought about going to the Mozilla Thunderbird site to see if my email profiles can be imported into Thunderbird on the Acct B. Likewise, perhaps I can also find out about how to import all my bookmarks and browser settings for Firefox. I know that stuff is stored somewhere...before Windows 10, I knew how to find a lot of that kind of stuff. Importing that stuff may be my only option because I've read a few more things since starting this thread and I can't find anything that would help me do what I asked in my OP. Perhaps it is not possible. If it's not, I guess I will have to set about reinstalling programs and setting my preferences and settings.

Those three things, my cheatsheet spreadsheets, and my email and browser settings were my biggest worry. I save all my documents and other files to an external drive. It was that external drive that enabled me to unlock the spreadsheets. I originally thought that because the program in which the files were hidden and locked is on the C: drive, that I would not be able to retrieve them under a different user account. I'm glad I was wrong.

Glad you found your cheatsheets. Suggest you start a new thread in Browsers and Email concerning what you are trying to do there. Not really appropriate in this sub-forum.
