Windows Hello Face - Searching For Face When Not Set Up

    Hello,

I have Windows Hello set up for PIN and fingerprint. I do not have it set up for face yet everytime I open my laptop my camera and IR sensors turn on and begin searching for my face. It eventually says that I need a PIN to set up Windows Hello but I already have a PIN?? If anyone knows how to stop this happening everytime on the lock screen it would be helpful as it is quite annoying.

I don't know if you have looked at this already, but try the following:

Go to Start > Setup > Accounts > Sign-in options > Windows Hello Face > Remove

That should disable it and stop it from trying to use facial recognition.

I've already tried this and I don't have it set up which is why it is confusing and frustrating.

Ah, yes, I understand now. I don't know for sure if this will work but it's worth a shot. It's a trick I've used with other problems successfully in the past.

Try enabling the Windows Hello face recognition, then go back in and disable it. Something may be in an odd state and hopefully enabling it so that you can then do a proper disable will clear out whatever is causing the issue.

Let me know if that does not work - I'll try to research it further in that case.

I have already set it up and then removed it if that's what you mean. I have other forms of Windows Hello setup but I don't want to use Face so I don't know why this shows up on the lock screen when it is not setup :/

Yeah, that's an odd one that I can't seem to find anything on. I can only take some random stabs at this. If it was me, I might try to disable Windows Hello completely (including PINs etc.) and then re-enable.

I'm not finding anything more useful as yet, but will search a bit further.

I tried this but the problem still persists. Thanks trying to help me so far anyway :)
