I'm having trouble creating a password reset disk

I'm using the search function in the taskbar. I type in "Create password reset disk." Then I click on the only option (which is correct) but nothing happens.

    1. What could be wrong?

    2. Is there another way to create this disk?

    Thank you......

Don't really think that functions anymore. Now we have the security questions. (tested on my system and it does not work either.)

So that I always have an administrator, say my daily profile goes wonky, I create an alternate admin on my machine. I don't use it, sign in every once and a while just for confirmation.

Easier than keeping a disk up to date and has all the rights.

Windows Login - how create new administrator login

    1. I have a user account that requires a password - but I had forgotten that I had this account. Can I delete this account (because I don't remember the password)? I am assuming that, in order to change the password, I'd have to remember the old password which I don't.

    2. Where do I go to create a new administrator account (or any new login account for that matter)?

    Thank you....

If you do not know the password of the existing user account and presuming it is a LOCAL user as against a Microsoft account and you did NOT set up security questions, then HOW are you getting into Windows

If you are IN as an admin account rather than a NON admin then you simply go settings and establish another account.

Sorry - but I find this procedure to create a new administrator account confusing. I am the only user of this computer. I have one administrator account for which I know the password and use it to sign in to Windows 10. I went into settings as you described - but am confused when it asks me to use a password to accept an invitation. I don't know what password to use. I've tried my login password, Microsoft Account password and my gmail password. None of them work. I used the family member option - but I am the family member. Please guide me. Thank you.....

    Hello NIsko,

Was this for a local account?

It's not possible for a Microsoft account.

    Nisko,

A Password reset disk only applies to a local user account not an MSAccount-linked user account.
    - Searching allows non-local user accounts to find the PRD creation wizard. This is a bug. I don't know if anyone has told MS.
    - The PRD creation wizard appears, for local user accounts only, at Control panel, User accounts, User accounts [again, if nec]
    - The PRD creation wizard works for local user accounts only
    - The PRD, for local user accounts only, is not entirely useless. It is an expensive method of emulating a piece of paper with the password written on it.

Your other problems should be resolved by these tutorials

But, if not, please would you restate the remaining issues because it's all got a bit murky for me.

1 You can create a spare admin account if you want [I also have a spare in case my main account is ever corrupted]. Is this why you are trying to do all this or is there another reason?
    2 What invitation?
